FAVE Communicating-with-color-and-light-with-Caroline-Jensen (40 of 52)

Tap into the emotive power of communicating through the manipulation of color and light.

Communicating with Color and Light focuses on the manipulation of color and light in Lightroom and ACR. Move beyond basic processing and learn how to process your images to evoke emotion. You will learn some foundational color theory and psychology to help you understand not only the how, but the why behind the choices you make. Each panel of the Develop Module will come alive as you learn to push boundaries and cover topics, such as creative curves, dodging and burning, manipulating texture, and color enhancement. You will also explore some Lightroom plug-in options that add unique finishing touches to your images. Creative thinking and boundary pushing is encouraged.

Lightroom 5 (or later) or the current version of ACR. A basic understanding of Lightroom or ACR is helpful. This course is specific to the Develop Module. Plugin programs for Lr are explored, but you may download a trial for that portion of the class.

If you are trying to find your editing style, this class is for you. Caroline walked us through a new panel in Lightroom every week and offered rich PDFs and videos that explained each panel in detail. She encouraged us to experiment, explore, and discover what speaks to us visually in our editing world. Moreover, through the weekly exercises, I learned more about who I am as a photographer and what colors, lighting, and texture attracted me and how I could create art that matched my vision. Caroline’s teaching style is creative, generous, and encouraging. This class has something for everyone and I look forward to taking more of Caroline’s classes in the future. This class is a game changer!

Caroline Jensen is an amazing instructor. This is my second class with her, and again I was blown away. The material is so full of information and inspiration that you want to do everything you can to learn and accomplish the assignments she asks of you. I loved discovering the power of color and how having control over Lightroom makes all the difference. I honestly did not want the class to end, and hope to learn more from Caroline in the future. Bottom line: if you want more control over editing your images and to see color in a new way, take this class.

You will understand Lightroom inside and out by the end of this class! Caroline has filled the PDFs with so much content (as well as linking to lots of additional resources as well) and tied the videos right in to demonstrate the concepts. Caroline (as well as the TA’s!) were extremely helpful and providing feedback on our images and available for questions. This workshop flew by and my editing has evolved so much! I’ll definitely be referring back to these materials in the future. I loved learning not just about ways to creatively edit, but the color theory and choices that go into it. Highly recommend this workshop!

Caroline has crafted this class to help you learn and understand not only the fundamentals of Lightroom, but to also push you understand and master the way all the panels interact with one another to craft an image. I entered this class already fairly proficient with Lightroom editing, and still learned a ton! Caroline is so generous with her time and is open to any and all questions. She is a fantastic instructor and I wouldn’t hesitate to take another class with her! I am grateful for her wisdom and guidance!

This class and Caroline have far exceeded my expectations. She is a thoughtful, articulate teacher who always has time to answer your questions. On line classes can be tricky but she uses video, PDF, and audio guides to answer your questions and give you information. The class is organized in a thorough and complete fashion, Caroline is friendly, approachable but most important, highly skilled at both seeing and critiquing your work. She shows through example and her work is inspiring. I have learned so much and will know that I will continue to learn after the four weeks are over. I have enjoyed her teaching so much that I enrolled in her next class! Thank you @carolinej!!!!

This is the second class I’ve taken with Caroline and just like the first one, it did not disappoint. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of LR, but still did not feel confident in my editing style or choices. Caroline’s class has helped me improve both of those. She starts with helping her students understand what they like and why, and then breaks down LR in a way that helps us apply our own creative style and preferences more confidently. Caroline is very helpful and very intentional about how she teaches the class. I enjoyed every minute of it and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to feel more confident and consistent in their editing. Best part about this class is she teaches you how to make your own presets and brushes, and even covers plug-ins.

I don’t think I can find adequate words to say how much this class has changed my perspective. Caroline presented the material in such a way that if you practiced along with the videos, you learned a ton!! I learned things I never knew Lightroom did. More importantly, Caroline showed ways to use Lghtroom that were creative and brought new life to your pictures. I can’t say enough good things. If you go into the class with an understanding of how Lightroom works, you come out of the class with so much more knowledge and ways to be creative in your own photography.

This class was a complete game changer for me. I was feeling stuck in my photography. I would always try to edit my images but wouldn’t be able to execute my vision or know how to achieve so many editing techniques. This class completely changed that! In addition, Caroline is an open book and a wealth of knowledge. She is so helpful. I also appreciate that she tried to keep the educational videos to about 10 minutes long. There is a lot of material to cover in this class so it can be intense but you would not get as much out of without all the knowledge she shares. She is amazing and this class is a must for anyone feeling they want to do more in LR or need some help with their creative vision or developing their style.

Wow! Caroline is an amazing mind and a generous instructor. She left no question unanswered. In addition to Caroline’s daily presence on the forums, the course TAs and alumni assistant provided regular feedback. Before taking this course, I was self-taught in Lightroom. When I realized I wanted to do something, I read or watched a tutorial. This class has opened up a whole new world for me. It’s truly an editing game changer. I’m a pretty quick learner, but the amount on info in this class is overwhelming. Caroline’s videos are so detailed. They hit everything you might ever want to know about the program. During the course, she made more videos to answer questions. Watching her edit is truly watching an artist manipulate a digital canvas. Take this class. Wait until you can take it full participation. I have learned so much through this course, and I will be reviewing her videos and PDFs for months to come.

If you’re on the fence about whether to do this course, do yourself a favor and sign up immediately! Prior to this course, I was a self taught Lightroom user and I knew there was so much more that Lightroom could do that I couldn’t figure out on my own and this course has given me that knowledge and so much more. Caroline has an incredibly in depth understanding of color and how various Lightroom tools can be used to play with, and draw out, color – her perspective is unique. Caroline is also very generous with her time and incredibly accommodating of people of all skill levels – I just want to keep learning from her week after week. I’ll be lucky to find a better course after this!

If you want an amazing, in-depth course that challenges you every step of the way, this is it! The sheer amount of course materials that Caroline provides is worth well beyond the cost of the course, not to mention the additional videos she posts when someone is struggling with a concept. Then there are the hundreds of presets Caroline provides…she is unbelievably generous with her time, resources and knowledge. I chose this course because as a self-taught Lightroom user I thought I might pick up a few tips. I seriously didn’t know how much I didn’t know! Do yourself a favour and sign up – it will transform your finished images.

This was my very first course with Clickin Moms, and I was absolutely floored. The materials were incredible, and Caroline’s enthusiasm for the subject is truly inspiring.

I took it with the goal to learn the develop module in Lightroom inside out. I came away knowing the develop panel inside, upside down, backwards, and sideways! I did not go in to this class all that excited about learning color theory, but of course, Caroline’s excitement for the topic reeled me right in, and now it’s one of my favorite topics!

Any resource can tell you what each will do, but only this course will tell you which slider to use to accomplish the look you are going for! Even further than that, this course will teach you why, and (where color is concerned) this course will educate you on the meaning behind it.

Any resource can demonstrate how to use a particular tool, but only this class will provide you with the space and structure to practice, and a forum to get feedback on your work.
No other teacher on earth could replicate the experience that Caroline provides in this class. She is just the best! I highly recommend!

I just completed this class and learned so much! I thought I knew Lightroom before this class but what I learned from Caroline completely changed my approach to post-processing. She helps you understand the big picture (what are you trying to communicate and why?) and also takes you into every nook and cranny of Lightroom and its capabilities. It feels fantastic to finally understand what is going on underneath the hood of Lightroom Presets and be able to go in and make adjustments to get the look I want.

I have been wanting to take this class for quite some time because anyone familiar with Caroline Jensen’s work has an idea of how off the wall creative and inspiring her images are from concept and composition to processing, with truly remarkable use of tones and color. But I was absolutely blown away by the incredible amount of information available, both technical and creative. Caroline thoroughly delves into the psychology of color, she deconstructs each of the LR panels until you know your way around them backwards and forwards, she encourages each student to really take time to see what they are personally drawn to and why, and provides the tools to make bold choices that are uniquely individual. I wish I had a month to spend on each week’s material…but I will eagerly be revisiting the wealth of information for months to come! This class has opened so many creative doors for me and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking to express themselves through their editing!

This class was truly wonderful ! I knew my way around LR pretty well, but this class has definitely taken my ability to manipulate colour, light and texture to the next level. I am amazed at the endless creative possibilities of Lightroom and the various plug-ins Caroline introduced. This course is so well put together and incredibly rich in reading materials, including lots of practical editing videos and presets. Not only will you learn how to creatively edit in LR, but Caroline also provides loads of inspirational content and colour psychology, to help you be more intentional in your editing and create the vision/message/style you want.
Caroline is a fabulous teacher and very active and quick in answering any questions or giving feedback and I loved her writing style! She has such a talent for taking you through her thought processes in a way that is easy to understand, rich in content and never too theoretical/dry. The videos are really helpful and clear and I will definitely reference them again.
This is a class that everyone working with Lightroom should take, you will be amazed at the creative options you have!

I went into this workshop thinking I knew a lot about LR. I had taken LR 101 and was comfortable editing within my little bubble of knowledge. That all changed once class started and I started reading and digesting the TROVE (And I mean, ENDLESS. TROVE.) of information that Caroline provides for this class. The more I worked and listened and watched my fellow classmates create, the more I realized that I had previously just been skimming the possibilities with my editing. There was SO much more. And Caroline presents all of these possibilities in the most organized and accessible way possible. She doesn’t tell you there is a right way and a wrong way to edit. She shows you how to put thought behind your editing, gives you all the tools necessary to create, and then encourages you to be yourself and take risks. Thanks to this wonderful class, I now feel like I have more control over my editing. I feel like I am making creative decisions with confidence. I feel like I know how each slider, and curve, and color functions, and how to manipulate those elements in order to create what I envision. And ultimately, I feel more comfortable expressing myself through my editing. I’m so glad that I took this fantastic class!
