I’ve only had time to watch about 5 videos so far, but they’ve been tremendously helpful. Although I haven’t finished all of the videos, I really feel it’s worth every penny. Included is also a forum that has been very active from both attendees and the professional instructors. I felt a little weird at first being one of the few fathers in this online community, but the participants have all been very personable, honest, and great people overall. On top of an active online community, easy-to-follow and extremely detailed video tutorials, there were also giveaways (4 total) and I actually won one, so I’m extremely thankful for that. I usually don’t write reviews, but I felt this group deserves it. Anyways, long story short…

    1) top quality tutorials
    2) responsive instructors
    3) great for amateurs and professionals

I love this breakout! so good! I love being able to know only learn how these amazing photographers process their images, but also their entire thought process to achieve it. So recommend it!!

I am loving this Breakout! It’s so awesome to see beautiful images from start to finish and to see that some of them (many of them!) are captured in “normal” surroundings. It’s really driving home the “find the light first” mindset for me. Thank you so much!

I highly recommend this breakout! I own a lot of breakouts and this one is one of my faves! The ladies are so talented, inspiring and so generous with their knowledge and their time. This is a great value and I’ll be going back to these videos very often. Great for post-processing in both LR and PS! Thanks ladies!!

So much information in this Breakout! I can’t wait to start editing and apply what I have learned so far.

Love this! It’s no nice to see the actual before and afters and how the artists achieve their individual styles. This workshop was a great value! Especially for visual learners that learn by watching someone do something!

I am so enjoying this breakout. I am loving the videos. The best part of the videos is that each photographer starts out by showing a pullback of the the setting, then before and after photos. It’s so nice to be able to view the location and surrounding light. Then all photos are edited from start to finish using Lightroom, Photoshop or both. So many wonderful techniques. I’ve learned so much. The PDF is just yummy filled with before, after and pullback photos of all the shots edited in the videos along with a great question and answer area from each of the photographers. Sooo many videos to have on my computer to watch over and over again. Great Breakaway.

    “Style”. “Voice”. “Identity.”
Words that many photographers set out on journey and hope they stumble upon at some point. This breakout changed my perspective completely. It didn’t leave me overwhelmed and over editing. It didn’t make me feel prisoner to a style I didn’t understand. This breakout is like a novel of information that left me hanging on to every word in suspense of what could be next.
The best way I can explain this for anyone who is considering this breakout, is that it gives you the tools to grow no matter where your photography skill level may be.
I finally see beauty in everything and a story in me without trying to define it. “ Your story is worth telling through your photos.”
    This breakout is priceless!

Wow! What a great breakout. It’s different kind of breakout for sure, but so inspirational! I love all the artist interviews, and the gorgeous huge gallery of before and after images. And watching so many photographers edit several different kinds of photos in invaluable! My only problem is that I don’t have time to sit down and watch the hours of video all at once. :) I’ll be revisiting this breakout for months to come. And can I just say how wonderful everyone is to provide personal feedback on my own before/after images?! Thank you all for sharing your talents and knowledge with us!

This breakout is such a good investment! Not only do you get to see photos from these outstanding photographers for inspiration, you get to see how they achieved their finished products. The videos are very thorough, and while I haven’t had time to watch all of them, I picked some pictures that match areas where I’m trying to improve, and watched those videos to learn.

Oh my gosh, this breakout is just overflowing with information! I love being able to see how all of these photographers are using simple locations to create stunning images. There are so many great tips in all the editing videos. I love picking up new tricks, and these ladies definitely have some great ones! I am so happy to have these videos to go back and review in the future, too. There are SO many. What a great investment! Thank you!!

An absolute gold mine for anyone wanting to dive deeper into the world of post processing so that they can make images that shine! Kudos to you ladies for all the work that went into this one.

I was super excited about this class, but I’m feeling frustrated 3 videos in. I ONLY edit in Lightroom and have NO desire to learn Photoshop. I wish I would have known that there would be lots of editing using both. Also, I wish that the videos were labeled more descriptively… I have yet to find the one where it is full footage longer than 10 seconds. I hate to write a negative review, but I am super disappointed with purchasing this. :(

    • BETH E. January 8, 2018 at 8:14 pm - Reply

This is such a strange review to me. If you at all glanced at the instructors work ahead of time, it is pretty obvious they use both Lightroom and Photoshop (as do most professionals.) I am taking the class and feel like even though I am 80% iPhone editor and 20% Lightroom, I can still apply almost everything I am seeing them do to my own workflow and style, with the programs I use . . .

Hi there! I am loving the videos! I just saw your comment about them being shorter than 10 seconds and thought – oh no! I better help you out! Please feel free to contact the Help Desk because the videos are all quite a lot longer and I want to make sure everything is set up so you can get the full experience. They can be contacted through this link: <3 Please let me know if you have any trouble connecting to them :)

Well, to be honest, after reading this “negative” comment I will buy the breakout. I think editing videos is the most important part for me when I buy a course. See how other photographer edit their photos is very interesting. You can learn a lot just observing how they process photos, their workflow, etc…. Of course I have to check first all the material and content to give my opinion here, but editing videos in PS and LR are always great material to learn!!

Amazing video tutorials, I adore it! Very detailed, clever, helpful. This is my first behind the scenes bo and I can absolutely understand now the memebers who collect them, I became a fan too for sure.

  17. Lisa Briand January 6, 2018 at 11:01 pm - Reply

I’m not even halfway through all the videos and already have learned so much! It is so great to see how to make your images really stand out in a new way. The different instructors are really clear on their process and watching them edit is so great. You won’t regret this purchase!

I was so intrigued to download the Behind the Scenes 2018 breakout this past week. I already follow all of these amazing photographers, and I was curious to see what their process was. I really love the concept of the Behind the Scenes breakouts. It’s so wonderful to see and hear their process from the pullbacks, sooc’s, final edits, video pullbacks, shooting videos, and editing videos. It really takes you through the entire creative process. I feel like it’s easy to get stuck in a rut with photography and seeing how these 5 photographers see locations and light, and then how they edit for their vision really helps to get the creativity flowing. Even though I’m proficient with Lightroom and Photoshop I still found tips to take away in the editing videos. There are just so many ways to edit, and I can’t wait to make some of these tips part of my workflow!

The other thing that amazed me with this breakout is the value of it! There are so many images from each photographer! The sheer volume of information for $50 is a no brainer if you want to further your creativity in 2018! I also love that the 5 of them are very active in the forum. Don’t miss out on the live portion, there are even awesome giveaways!

This breakout is jam packed with value. You are going to get way more than what you pay for and tons of editing videos. What I truly appreciate is that the instructions don’t hold back, and that they explain the “why” behind the adjustments they made. I loved to see how every one how their own workflow and how they got to their final image. Although the instructors spent time in Lightroom, and ACR, I would have to say for me, my favorite parts were the time spent in Photoshop – I was able to pick up some new tricks. Whether or not you have purchased previous Behind the Scenes, like I have, you need to add this one to your collection as well. These ladies are pros at editing!

If you find yourself wishing your images had more “pop” to them or if you feel a little lost or uninspired when working in LR and PS, then this breakout will literally break you out of your funk! This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from not one, but FIVE, incredible photographers. I love how differently each artist approaches an image in post processing. Getting a sneak peek at their methods has me looking more creatively at my own images and understanding where I can take them. Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just starting out on your photography journey, you’ll surely take away something new from each one of these women. Thank you ladies for putting yourselves out there for all of us to learn from!

Thanks so much Stacy! So glad it’s given you a creative push :)

This is the first time I bought Behind the Scenes Break out and I’m so happy I finally did! I can. not.stop. watching! Nothing is getting done around the house here but I’m learning so much! I haven’t finished all the videos yet because I’m rewatching some of them, going back and try to memorize it. What I really like is that these awesome ladies actually show how to make things happen in PP verses using a preset or an action. They did such an awesome job explaining everything they do! I am downloading it to my phone now so I can watch it at work on my breaks! Highly recommend it!

I am loving this BO so far! There are a TON of videos with full edits to see how its done. I also love seeing the images they start with and seeing that they photograph in locations that aren’t all magical, but can utilize what they have around them to come up with incredible shots. So glad I bought this one! I haven’t gotten through all the videos but am very excited to watch the rest of them!

I am LOVING this year’s Behind the Scenes! I have already watched several videos from each instructor. It is so fascinating to see all the different workflows and editing styles in this one class. This is absolutely worth every penny for the wealth of editing knowledge these ladies give, and it’s amazing to see the pullbacks from the final shots we all see and love on FB/IG. It definitely inspires me to think outside the box a little more when photographing my own children.

I love that it’s inspiring you to think outside the box :)

Oh my goodness. I dived into the videos as soon as they became available and I am absolutely blown away! There are 77 videos showing you the full start to finish edit, pullback and brief explanation of how the photograph was taken. The breakout also comes with a PDF where you can read an interview with each teacher and go through a catalogue of their edited images (before / after / pullback) so that you can easily decide which transformation you would like to watch.
I have only watched a few videos so far and I really am blown away (and hooked!). Every spare minute I get I sneak to my Mac to watch more and practice on my images…
I have quite a collection of breakouts and this one is just… AMAZING! Get it as soon as you can, you will not be disappointed!
I thought I knew Lightroom really well and I have new tricks under my belt that I would have never thought about before…
