In this Breakout you’ll learn a whole new way to approach newborns. Elise encourages you to embrace the environment around you, focus on connection and moments over poses and technicalities. She encourages you to submerge yourself into the art of “lifestyle” photography. Conditioning your mind and making the client feel comfortable in front of the camera are two extremely important and pertinent topics in which Elise discusses in depth. She’ll help you embrace the beauty of photographing the candid and true over the planned and posed.

Elise will go through her process from receiving a client inquiry, greeting them in their home, all the way through her work flow during a lifestyle newborn session. She’ll uncover tips and tricks to keeping the focus on connection and emotion, and hone in on capturing the environment to tell a story. She will direct you towards honest, emotive, narrative images that will captivate the viewer.

This Breakout will also include her favorite editing tips, and an inside look at the presets and gear she uses to create effective lifestyle images. As a bonus, she gives you a glimpse into lifestyle maternity photography and shares some of her favorite approaches to capturing an expecting couple.

Elise helps you find the lifestyle photographer within and encourages you to embrace it, utilize it, and never look back.

• How to make your clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera

• How to create meaningful, story-telling images that create a time capsule of connection and love for your client

• How to scout for ideal places to shoot inside your clients home

• Natural, emotive poses that take minimal direction but creates powerful moments

• How to make the best out of sessions that may not be ideal

• Photographing babies that just want to party– shooting wide-awake newborns through their fussy and squirmy moments

• What to bring to a lifestyle newborn session and what not to bring

• Conditioning your mind to “go with the flow” in any lifestyle session

• How Elise edits and what presets she loves most

I just reread Elise’s breakout as I had my first newborn session in a while coming up this month. I can say I gained even more from it second time around as I was really honing in on all her tips and ideas. Elise shares so much inspiration, her thought process, her workflow and above all gives you the confidence to trust your creative flow and listen to your heart to truly capture the beauty unfolding before your eyes in what can be quite an unpredictable type of session. This breakout will definitely give you the confidence you need to approach newborn lifestyle photography!

This breakout session was so incredible! The PDF provided great information. My favorite component was the videos and watching Elise approach the editing process and hearing her insights and thoughts on her photos and her edits. I also love how she encourages you to experiment and how she says sometimes its all about tweaking and seeing what speaks to you- such great advice!

What a great first breakout for me! I am a mom of two boys under 2 and I was hoping this breakout would provide some tips on how to capture them better. Although my photography style differs somewhat from Elise’s fabulous work, the takeaways are valuable, no matter what your style is. I particularly found the Q&A session extremely helpful, Elise was so honest and forthcoming in answering all of the questions. I hope all CM breakouts are this good!

I recently did a lifestyle session with triplets. I wish I had read this breakout before the session. It is such a great resource! I will be reading the PFD again and again and watching the videos again and again. If you have any questions about newborn lifestyle session I guarantee that the answer will be in this breakout. Elise is so thorough. And to top it all off her images are beautiful. So excited now since I have two more newborn lifestyle sessions coming up soon.

I’ve been following (and in awe of) Elise’s work for some time now, so when the opportunity arose to be able to learn from her I had to take it! I’m so incredibly glad I signed up for this breakout. I have just starting getting into the world of lifestyle newborn photography and have felt a bit lost in the process. Elise gives tons of practical, detailed information that even just after reading the pdf has given me so much more confidence! Entering someone’s home soon after they have welcomed a little one can be a bit nerve wracking, I found Elise’s advice on how to prepare clients and how to make them comfortable particularly helpful. I also really enjoyed her advice on posing, I am definitely going to take these into account at my next newborn session (in two days!). Overall, I am so thankful for the confidence and clarity this breakout has given me, and I’m so excited to see how that translates into my work!

Elise shares how to prepare for your session, how to work with tricky lighting situations, what to bring with you, and how to “pose” for to ensure you get the best shots. I have a lifestyle newborn session next week and can’t wait to try out what I’ve learned!

Wow! I have no words for describing how amazing this Breakout is! I´ve always felt a bit insecure about shooting newborns, because the beanbag has never interested me but it felt like something you “should” do, but now I feel so empowered! I can´t wait for my next shoot! This has given me such an amazing push, given me courage to really do lifestyle and I love it. Thank you for everything ✨

I first discovered lifestyle photography thanks to this community, and I took several breakout and workshop about it. And every class brought me something different, and I’m not at all deceived by this one, who is one of my favorite!! Not just because Elise Meader is part of those few photographers that I love everything about, but also because she’s going through all that defines lifestyle photography : directing, shooting, processing and she allows us to know more about her photography journey and her style!! If you’re drawn in the filmy look of her pictures, and with editing quickly your sessions, you will love her editing videos!! You’ll learn so much I swear!! Thank you so much Elise for this breakout!

A great breakout for me! I have only done a handful of ‘lifestyle’ newborn sessions and this has given me the confidence to fully step away from even including a little beanbag-type posed work. It is so emotive and Elise gives great advice for just being able to go with the flow!!

I LOVED this breakout! I’m a very visual person so I really appreciated how she would talk about a certain “pose” and then have a corresponding picture! I’ve found that too many times someone will talk about a pose but not actually show it and that drives me nuts! Not Elise! She had a photo go with each pose. Awesome! I also really loved the shooting video. I kinda wish I could’ve heard what she was saying instead of just music but it was still helpful to see! Thanks so much for the wonderful breakout and inspiration!

Such a great breakaway for an amazing price!! The shooting video was really helpful, and the pdf is FULL of great information. Honestly, I can’t even express how much I needed this. Elise is talented, inspirational, and super helpful. The PDF is GORGEOUS, and it makes me want to fly her out to Oregon when I have a baby someday. She proves that what we do as photographers matters, and it is art, even when it is done for specific clients. I love Breakouts, and hers has been one of my favorites. Well worth the $25!

I really enjoyed this breakout.

Amazing! I love Elise’s work so much and it was so nice to get to see a behind-the-scenes view of what she does. The editing part was also so great to listen to, I didn’t read too much of what was in the breakout since I was pretty much hooked the moment I saw she was even doing one. So the editing part was a HUGE bonus that I really enjoyed! Well worth your dollars!

I’ve loved in-home newborn sessions for so long, but knew I was missing something, and couldn’t put my finger on it. Elise spelled everything out for me in a relatable, easy to understand way, with in-depth information on directing clients into flattering positions (while still maintaining a lifestyle feel), to dealing with a small or cluttered home, to making the most of my editing and simplifying where needed (which has been my biggest struggle all along!) I am so thankful for this breakout and know that you won’t regret this purchase!!

I have already bought it! It worths all the money that you pay! I am at the beginning of the breakout and in just three videos I learned a lot! Every single word has a huge value to me, and she is a great inspiration! Really recommended!

So I power read through the entire breakout last night and watched all the videos to be ready for today’s lifestyle newborn session.

Some things that stuck out to me were…

    Look for light.
I already knew this and tried to do it before, but had a much better vision this time!

    It’s ok to pose.
For some reason I thought lifestyle newborn sessions were supposed to be more documentary style with little to no instruction. It caused for awkwardness and less than stellar pictures in regards to light! This time I was moving them around the nursery and directing which ways to sit and lie. Huge improvement!

These are for them AND for me.
Like above…I thought I had to go and do and follow their entire lead and direction. Including props, locations, poses, etc. Sometimes they were just not good. Today I took more leadership and direction and they responded so well!

    Pose ideas.
I already knew a lot of the signature lifestyle poses, but they were getting ho-hum. I copied down the suggested poses and did lying down for the first time…and I just LOVE the results!! I directed the direction for light and it all just went perfectly!

And most important…it’s more about connection than perfection.
I always stressed over too much grain, focus being exactly perfect, shadows being exactly perfect. I probably culled a lot of great images in the past because I loved the shot, but the technical side wasn’t perfect. I really looked at my latest upload with a new vision!

Absolutely loved the breakout. I got so much out of it. The poses, the workflow and most importantly the editing techniques to give it more of a documentary approach. Please buy it if you are still thinking of it. Such a great value for money!

If you love photographing newborns this breakout is worth the investment. The images alone will leave you inspired and the videos and PDF only add to that! Elise is an incredible photographer at pretty much everything BUT she excels at Lifestyle Newborn Photography. Her work is unbelievable. She has the “poses” and candids down so beautifully– understanding angels and lighting perfectly. I am always inspired by seeing the way she shoots so naturally and full of emotion. Her passion for teaching this to others shines through immensely in this breakout and I walked away from it feeling inspired to try some of the techniques she covers. I cannot recommend this breakout enough! A true game changer.

Elise is such an inspiration to me, this breakout has been exactly what I needed. I was stuck in my decision what to specialize in, and completely commit myself to one genre of photography. After literally crying watching the videos included in this breakout session, it is obvious that I have found exactly the work I want to do. To be able to capture moments for families as Elise does in this breakout is my only goal. Time flies, babies grow so quickly, and she certainly knows how to capture every little detail!!! Best class I’ve ever spent my money on.

If you shoot posed newborns, buy it, that family will always want that authentic emotional family image. Elise walks you through her mindset, her process, her gorgeous images, and more–it’s an all access pass! I absolutely loved it, and I have been using her posing suggestions for my 6 month old, it’s not just for newborns!
