My photography journey began my senior year in high school with a last minute elective photography class that eventually led to dropping out of calculus to take additional photography classes. My interest in photography has ebbed and flowed over the past 20 years, pursuing classes in both film and digital medium whenever I had the time and motivation. Now working exclusively digital with a mixture of prime and zoom lenses, I use both studio and natural light to photograph my subjects.
Since early on with photography, the primary subject of my work has been children. Through my lens I witness and capture the unique expressions and interactions as children explore and engage with the world around them. Whether it be running around a cherry orchard picking cherries or sharing a snack with a best friend who happens to be a dog, I strive to capture genuine moments reflecting the true personality of the child. I hope when that child grows up and one day reflects upon the photos, they will be reminded of what it felt like to be a child.
Currently residing in Bethlehem, PA with my husband, two children, three dogs and one cat, I find myself lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful locations with access to such dynamic subjects. Where my photography journey will lead me next, I do not know; but I do know that photography has enriched my life in more ways than I imagined. It has given me the motivation to seek out new experiences, meet and interact with people whom I might not ever have met, and notice and appreciate the simple, beautiful things in the world around me.
