  1. I just wrapped up Mickie’s magic of photoshop course, and I have to say it is among the best I’ve taken at Click Photo School. What I love – in a sense, this is a 5 week rather than 4 week class if you start early with the pre-assignment work (highly recommend!) – there she gives an overview of the common tools you will need and helps trouble shoot. Each week builds upon the next with easy to follow written instructions coupled with a video detailing the lesson. Both are amazing, but the video is going to fill in a lot of blanks, so be sure to watch that. A key to your success in this class is the daily practice which has it’s own thread each week – and Mickie gives time and attention to everyone’s images in there. So, you get a ton of feedback, and sometimes she adds a video to answer a question or help you overcome an issue. I could go on and on, but I will say that by the end of this course I FINALLY felt I saw glimpses of my style, learned how to make my images comes to life, and how to get my final pictures just the way I envisioned when I took the photo. Fantastic class – thank you so much Mickie!

  2. Mickie is an amazing instructor who really Unlocks the Magic of Photoshop! She’s structured the lessons in a way that each element builds on previous lessons and before I knew it, I was remembering shortcuts and intentionally using PS. Her detailed and comprehensive video demonstrations, pdfs, critiques, daily interaction (written or video), and video reviews helped me learn so much during this and her FUNdamentals of Photoshop workshops. But most of all, I’ve gained confidence in using Photoshop for editing and am no longer reluctant to experiment with tools, layers, and techniques to achieve my vision for an image. Definitely a game-changer!

  3. I highly recommend this class if you want to improve your photoshop skills. I had a little experience in PS and this class really made me feel more confident in my abilities as well as added to my skillset. Mickie was a great instructor and she was always available for questions. She provided thorough feedback with detailed videos. I’m so glad I took this course and will continue practicing the things I’ve learned.

  4. Highly, highly recommend this course! Take it as a full participation if possible because it is jam packed with information, ideas, new concepts, etc… and the feedback and ability to ask questions is very valuable! Mickie is speedy fast to respond, she is thorough and doesn’t miss a thing! The content is very organized- each concept or tool is offered in pdf and video (I used both a ton). I’m waiting for a part II of this course because I loved it so much :)

  5. I had little experience in PhotoShop, but wanted to learn more about it and also better understand the very few things I knew how to do in PS. I learned so much more! It was an intense four weeks, however, the videos are super helpful and the pdf’s are well written and easy to follow, making them a great resource to refer back to. I don’t take photos of people very often, but am much more confident in getting skin tones correct. Mickie is an excellent instructor – responding quickly and explaining and suggesting ways to use PS in ways that are easy to understand. It was a fun four weeks and I’m so excited to keep using everything I learned to help make my images stand out. I know I will be using PS more than I had before!

  6. This class is simply amazing. If you are undecided about taking it, just do it! You won’t regret it. Going into the class, I knew a little bit about photoshop already and I would use it occasionally, but I limited myself to a couple of techniques and would have to google how to do things over and over. During the class, I learned so much! Her PDFs and videos were crystal clear. Her critiques were excellent and she was able to help me problem-solve things that weren’t working for me. I highly recommend doing the full participation to get the most value because most likely, you WILL run into issues and need someone to help you figure out why something isn’t working. Even after the class ends, I know I will have her videos and PDFs to reference over and over. Thank you, Mickie!

  7. This course has been on my list for a couple years and I finally took it! I cannot say enough about this class and Mickie as an instructor. I have been so intimated (and frustrated) with PS! She explains things SO simply! Mickie is SO quick to respond to questions and assignments. She notices every detail! I love how every tool or and concept is in PDF and video form. There is an insane amount of content as well! Highly, highly recommend full participation- I would’ve been lost without the ability to ask questions. I cannot wait to continue to use all that I have learned on my future images! Do not hesitate to participate in this course- don’t waste your time weeding through you tube tutorials (as I first did)!

  8. Anna Guðnadóttir

I just finished the course “Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop” with Mickie DeVries and it didn’t disappoint. I had already taken the first course “Fundamentals of Photoshop” and I really love both of them. Mickie is really great teacher and one of the best feature of the course is the constant and (almost) instant feedback she gives every day of the course. The material itself is also very great and easy to follow. Looking forward to learning more from her in the future.

  9. This class contains an incredible amount of content for a 4-week course. It is amazing the amount Mickie is able to teach in such a reachable, easy to understand way. She is truly a gifted teacher. Her daily feedback is always meaningful and timely. My knowledge and confidence in using PS has grown tremendously! Whether you are a hobbyist or in business this class will benefit you and help you take your images to the next level.

  10. This is a gem of a course. Photoshop can be frustratingly intimidating and creates a mental block every time I know something can be done, and perhaps should be done, in PS. I decide on the spur of that moment to just do without the hassle, knowing that I would end up spending time I do not have and end up with a mediocre result. But there is HOPE! Mickie makes this so manageable by describing everything in the PDF and then demonstrating in a video. Everything is in bite-sized chunks that make this all easy to follow, do-able and easy to refer back to.
Mickie is a gem of a teacher! She is so knowledgeable and adds A LOT of value to even the simplest of questions. She is attentive, intuitive, and sheds light on things I would not have even thought to ask. She is one step ahead during the whole course and has an amazing ability to critique and find the things that need fine tuning. She is available and responds quickly and thoroughly. This is a winner!

  11. Krystal Hannington

If you have been thinking about taking this course, do it! I was too scared to take this course for about a year and finally impulsively signed up for it and I’m so glad I did. I wish I would have taken it sooner. I could fumble my way through photoshop and would use actions to do things I wanted, but never felt like they looked natural. This course broke those things down step by step and taught me how to do them myself without the action, but also how to create my own. Every week I felt more confident in my abilities to edit a photo. During week 4 I posted a before and after of a landscape photograph on social media and had someone request to buy a metal print of it! Trust me, take the course. You won’t regret it. It’s simply amazing!

  12. Jenny Rosenbring

I have been wanting to take this class forever, and I am soooo happy I finally got around to it. There is so much useful information in this class, even if you have used photoshop before. I had so many aha-moments and learned ways to do things better and easier than before. Mickie is so skilled and I love how she takes the time to give very informed and detailed feedback. The amount of information in this class is so comprehensive that I feel like I came away with a very good understanding of photoshop. I very much recommend this class!

  13. Photoshop is magic and this class will make you a magician! Mickie is so good at teaching Photoshop! The lessons are broken down into bite-sized pieces that all come together as you progress through the course. You focus on a different skill set each week, and by the end of the course you have the tools you need to transform your images into art! Highly recommend!

  14. This class has been recommended to me so many times over and I’m so glad I finally got the chance to take it. Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop is a game changer. As someone who liked to play around in the program, but definitely had some gaps in my knowledge, these past four weeks have been so helpful. The materials are so well done, and are easy to understand and follow along with. On top of that, Mickie is a wonderful instructor. She answers questions quickly, is generous with her knowledge, and her critiques are so detailed, they’ve been my favorite of all the CPS classes I’ve taken thus far. If there is ever a followup to this class, I will definitely be there. Highly recommended!

  15. I’ve been eyeing this class for a while and am so happy I finally made the time to take it! @mickiedev did a WONDERFUL job of explaining and teaching large concepts about Photoshop. This was the first time I signed up to be a full participant in a class and I’m so glad I did! Mickie’s insight and helpful critique were vital to how much I learned in PS. I’m itching to learn more… would love have a Photoshop Step 2 class from Mickie… Thank you so much for your time and insight! Would 100% recommend this for any level of photographer.

  16. Thank you Micke for teaching me a new language! I was so intimidated by Photoshop but you really helped me understand this program and how I can use it in my work. I love how the material is so thoughtfully laid out. Your feedback is so detailed and considerate. I never imagined that I could feel comfortable with Photoshop but now I do. Thank you! You are a gifted instructor!

  17. I just wrapped up this course and can’t say enough good things about it (and Mickie! Thank you for your detailed and thorough critiques!) Even though I had some PS knowledge and experience, I learned so many new techniques and having the videos to look back on will be so helpful. I highly recommend this class even if you do have some PS experience!

  18. Carlin MacDougall

This class was exactly what I needed to fill in the gaps in my knowledge of Photoshop. There is so much information packed into this four-week course, and I felt like I came away with the tools to be really creative in Photoshop and also to allow me to edit more efficiently. Mickie has developed very thorough course materials that are easy to follow and understand. She has a great eye and her critiques are invaluable. I would highly recommend this class to anyone hoping to take their Photoshop skills to the next level.

  19. I debated for a while whether or not to take this class, I was previously using PS and I knew my understanding wasn’t thorough, but I could get through and do the bits I needed to do. Well it’s been THE BEST decision to join! I now realise what I didn’t know, and I feel so confident using PS. No more guessing, I now understand when things don’t work what I’m doing wrong, I’ve learnt so many tips and tricks, shortcuts, and can transform my images to the next level! So grateful for the support from Mickie, the video tutorials are fantastic, so clear and easy to follow, and the 121 feedbacks are brilliant. Would 100% recommend this course :)

  20. This class is amazing! I had NO IDEA the tools available to take my photos to the next level. I was in a place where I felt like my portraits were lacking – just felt lackluster and not special, and I was stuck. I couldn’t figure out what was missing! This class was what I needed. I have learned so much about skin tones, removing distracting objects, enhancing the sky/sun/color in photos. @mickiedev is so knowledgeable, and I love her style. She encourages you to keep your edits subtle and naturally beautiful. I am so glad I invested in this course. When you sign up for it, be sure to make time in your calendar to practice as much as possible, because you can upload practice images each day and Mickie will reply to each one. Her feedback to your photos and to your classmates’ photos is so helpful. ♥️

  21. My only regret is I didn’t take this class sooner. Mickie is an excellent instructor. The course PDF & video material is very well organized making it super easy to navigate the lessons. Additionally, Mickie provides indiviualized tutorial videos to answer your questions and/or demonstrate how to accomplish or improve your editing. Super helpful to me has been her personal videos. Throughout her video instruction, Mickie constantly reminds how to navigate through the workflow which has really help to reinforce my memorization of the basics. I highly recommend full participation, submitting your work daily for feedback, and working through the Pre Assignment as soon as it’s available. Thank you Mickie for such a positive learning experience!!!

  22. Is it better to take your fundamentals course prior to this one? I am a confident LR user but TERRIBLE in photoshop (despite taking other on-line and in person classes). So I am still very much an easily frustrated beginner with PS…Hoping to finally find the clss/instructor that makes it “click” (no pun intended) for me….Thanks!

    1. Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop pairs nicely as an extension on what I teach in FUNdamentals, but I think it depends on what your goals are to use PS for. If you want to only use PS for things like cloning, retouching, swapping skies, adding textures, toning images, etc. then I would say go with UMP. UMP really focuses on the extra things that you can’t do in LR (some can be done in LR, but most cannot). FUNdamentals focuses more on workflow with start to finish editing in ACR through PS (ACR applicable to LR), but doesn’t go into advanced cloning, sky swaps, head swaps etc. If you struggle with understanding masks and layers then FUNdamentals is probably an easier entry into that as I cover that in my preassignment for UMP. If you join UMP it’s ideal to go through the preassignment prior to week 1. With both classes it’s important to have time to practice because practicing and posting if full participation is the key!

      1. Thanks so much for the detailed response! UMP sounds great but yes, I do still struggle with of masks and layers so FUN is probably a better place to start. It looks like the current class is already in progress. I s there a way to be notified if/when it will run again? Thank you!

        1. I believe my course page for Fundamentals should change to have an email notification link, right now it’s not showing that, but I think that is because it’s running right now. I would check back in a couple of weeks to see if you can sign up for a notification. I believe FUNdamentals will run in March again and go on sale the beginning of February.

  23. I am SO happy that I took this course! Mickie is a fabulous instructor, offering incredibly thorough lessons and keeping in constant communication with her students each and every day. I hadn’t opened Photoshop once before this course began, and now I am using it for 99% of my edits. Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop is the PERFECT name for this course, as Mickie walked us through all that we thought was possible — but were clueless on how to achieve! — and all that we did not even know could be done! Thank you, thank you, thank you Mickie! I will be forever grateful for all of your efforts to make this class a transformative experience for your students.

  24. I just finished Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop taught by Mickie – it has been on my bucket list of courses to take for a while (my background is a hobby photographer that has only used LR to edit photos as PS was intimidating to me) and it exceeded even my highest expectations. Mickie is a fantastic teacher who offers up a wealth of knowledge to not only give students a solid base through the material that she introduces in the curriculum each week, but will supplement with additional techniques and workflows to help you achieve what you’re trying to create in PS in her responses to practice and assignment submissions, AND includes so much material that I know I’ll be coming back to the saved pdfs and videos to learn even more. She is responsive, approachable, and so generous with her knowledge. After taking this class I have an understanding of how to use PS to edit my photos to achieve the end photo I have in mind, and feel ready to explore further editing techniques because of the fundamentals that I learned. Thank you Mickie!!

  25. Goodness this class is worth EVERY PENNY and more! Mickey makes things so understandable and attainable! I seriously am no longer intimidated by PS and am super excited to keep sharpening my skills! her interaction and homework critique is super valuable and helpful. One of the best classes I’ve taken recently. If you are on the fence… DO IT! I guarantee you will be glad you did! :)

  26. Hands down, one of the best investments you can make in your business or hobby! Mickie’s course is so well laid out and thorough! The amount and quality of the material in the curriculum is amazing! Even if you’ve been using Photoshop for years, you won’t be able to walk away without learning something new. One of my goals for this year was to become more proficient and “fluent” in Photoshop. I can definitely say that I accomplished that goal! I love that the course material is available to download and access for one year afterwards as well. I know that I will defiantly be going back and referencing so many of the techniques and tricks that Mickie taught during this course. Her video critiques for the live class, were so sweet and fun. Definitely worth every cent and beyond! Sign up for this course!

  27. Mickie truly is magic! Her class is very thorough and exactly what you need to learn photoshop and unlock the potential in your own images. This class is a must-have!

  28. Sanja Markovic

The Best! That is how I felt about this course while taking it, and once I completed it. Once upon a time, I took a PS course and nothing really made sense and after the course ended I never opened PS again. This time around, I was excited from week 1.. scratch that.. from the Pre-assignment week! Micke D. is an amazing instructor, and the way she set up the course (dividing each week into sections that you can work through during the week) made ALL THE DIFFERENCE, and PS – step by step started making sense to me. All the amazing things I knew PS could do, I can now do! Ok, let me not get ahead of myself. Not ALL things, of course, it is PS after all! BUT, so many things that can help my editing can be a part of my workflow now. To be honest, I am just so proud of myself! And as I said, I owe that to Micke and her never-ending feedback, and all the detailed explanation she offered us along the way. No question remained unanswered.

I do have to say, it is a course that requires your time, since there is a lot of material to work through, BUT it is so worth it. And like I mentioned, the way it is set up it totally allows you to work through things ‘one thing at a time’, and Mickie goes over and beyond to make sure you understand the material – both in written word and in the videos.

So, if you eeeever thought about PS and it seemed too intimidating, or if you know some things but want to know more, THIS is the course!! Trust me!

Just do it! And have fun :)

  29. This is a WONDERFUL course! Mickie can take everyday photos and turn the mediocre/meh/mundane into MAGIC. I have always been intimidated by Photoshop, but after this class, I finally UNDERSTAND the basics and have detailed, step-by-step instructions in the class material to reference for what I’m trying to achieve. Mickie is a great instructor; she’s readily available and provides prompt responses and detailed feedback.

  30. Excellent course! So much to learn and experiment with and great to be able to FINALLY open up PS and not break out in a sweat, I’ve been paying for the subscription for years! Mickie has set out the course to guide you through learning about layers through to letting your imagination run wild and having the tools to find ‘your look’. So glad I took the class. There’s a lot to take in so be sure to set aside the time to go through it all and practice. Mickie is very responsive to queries and gives feedback on practice images and extra tips and videos as she goes. The four weeks flew by!

  31. Wow. This course was everything I hoped it would be and more! As someone who has struggled with Photoshop and even taken classes in the past that left me feeling more confused than before, Mickie’s course not only gave me the fundamental understanding of Photoshop for photography that I needed, but also showed me how to do everything I have ever wanted to do to take my photography to the next level. If you are a photographer who often hits artistic walls in Lightroom and is ready to give your work that extra “umph”, then take this class! I wish I had taken it years ago! Mickie is also very available for questions and feedback and teaches the material with ease and clarity – an outstanding instructor. Take it!

  32. Myriam Farah Cobb

I’m so happy with this workshop, I can’t recommend it enough! I learned so much in a few short weeks. The information is presented so clearly in the PDFs and the videos makes it easy for you to follow along and practice. I’m excited to apply all that I’ve learned to my photos. Thank you Mickie!

  33. This course has been on my photography to-do list for a long time. I know a little bit about photoshop, but I’ve always been self-taught and learned via YouTube videos and trial & error. I have used photoshop for awhile, but I have always known that there are probably easier ways to do some of the things I am trying to accomplish in the program. This course has really helped me to learn better, more efficient ways to do things. Mickie is a fantastic teacher and breaks things down in a way that is not overwhelming for someone with little to no knowledge of photoshop, but at the same time, she tackles the program’s features in a way that is beneficial for photographers of all skill levels. Even as someone who has used photoshop for years, there is still so much to learn in this course!! This is a course you will want to have at your fingertips as a go-to for all of your photoshop questions and needs. If you’re on the fence, I promise you won’t regret this purchase!

  34. Is this a good workshop to take after taking photoshop for beginners? How much of the information is repetitive? I’d love to take my understanding of photoshop to the next level and am really hoping that this workshop will help me to do so! thanks

    1. Hi Emily! I have had quite a few students that have taken Photoshop for Beginners and then my class. I’ll give you an overview of what each week covers, there is some overlap, but I do think even with overlap there is benefits as there are so many different ways to do the same thing in Photoshop. Also if you take it full participation I often show what I would do with an image in PS if I think it needs tweaking :)

Preassignment: Overview of the program, how to setup your workspace, color space video, how to save in Photoshop for Lightroom and non-Lightroom users, layers & masks, common tasks, troubleshooting.

Week 1: Retouching eyes, teeth, skin (frequency separation method, and also and easy method for skin smoothing), skin color correction, liquify, helpful tips in PS like making, saving, and modifying actions.

Week 2: All about the various ways to clone, using the cloning tools, content aware fill, flipping the canvas, headswaps, and extending the canvas

Week 3: All about color and toning, enhancing skies, adding contrast, popping color, changing color, toning with various tools, adding a matte finish, vignette, changing neon grass, color casts

Week 4: Super fun week with replacing skies, adding textures and modifying them in various ways like removing the actual texture, removing the color toning, etc., blur filters, warp, adding light and atmospheric overlays.

Bonus material: My workflow with LR and PS, Putting it all together videos to help decide how to edit an image and how that relates to the material, composite video, underwater editing video, speeding up PS video

Let me know if you have any more questions, but that gives you a good idea on what the material covers :)

  35. I have been secretly wanting to take this course for years and I am SO glad that I finally did. Mickie is an excellent teacher and the content in the course is well-worth the investment. I went from never having opened Photoshop (ever!) to now using it regularly in my editing process. This course will help you bring your images to life, add a little magic, and strengthen your editing skills overall.

  36. This is my first Click Photo workshop and I’m so happy I signed up!  Mickie is a great instructor, her course materials are easy to follow and the videos are great reinforcement to the PDF files.  Mickie shared so many great tips and best practices in her workshop.  And she was so responsive to all the questions asked which was super helpful.

The PDF files are jam packed with information and Mickie organized them in a way that is cohesive and fun to read, I always end up reading the entire PDF on the first day each week because I couldn’t stop lol.

Thank you Mickie for a great workshop!

  37. No matter where you are in your photography journey, Mickie’s Magic of Photoshop class is for you. Whether you want to fix your photos, enhance them, or really create magic, Mickie will teach you how to achieve your goals. If you can, I highly recommend taking this class in it’s full version with critiques. Her feedback videos are priceless. Her videos and PDF’s are clear and easy to follow along. I took a Photoshop basics class years ago and never was able to apply my knowledge. I now feel confident in using Photoshop to achieve my best edits.

  38. I just finished the latest run of Mickie’s Magic of Photoshop class. No matter where you are in your photography journey, this class is for you.

  39. I just finished the latest run of Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop and can’t believe how much I have learned in just 4 short weeks! Prior to taking the workshop, I felt too intimidated by Photoshop and overwhelmed trying to figure things out on my own. I put off learning it for a long time – but I’m so glad I finally jumped in and snagged a full participation seat. Mickie is absolutely wonderful – her videos are very easy to follow along and the PDFs were perfect – with step by step instructions, they made it easy for a quick reference if I just needed to jog my memory on a specific step. Mickie has the course absolutely packed with information and videos – there are pre-assignment information/videos which were really helpful to dig into before class even started as well as tons of bonus material Mickie provided (which will help fight those post-workout blues when a great class comes to an end :) ). I feel like what I’ve learned will really help push my images to the next level. If you can do full participation, it is so worth it. Mickie was so helpful in the daily practice threads/Q&As on how to improve and very quick to respond. Thank you so much Mickie!!

  40. Anybody look at this class, i can only say DO IT! from sneaking into to PS to try and clone something simple and panicking everytime i pressed a button, PS is now going to be an integral part of my editing process. Mickie explains everything so carefully and logically, there are 4 weeks packed FULL of information but she is there to walk through every step and always on hand with help, tips and feedback. I am very grateful to my husband for gifting this course to me, it is definitely a game changer and i cant promote it enough :)

  41. This class is a must class for anyone who wants to learn more about Photoshop. Mickie does an amazing job of teaching this class, she teaches everything you need to know about Photoshop into 4 weeks using videos, reading material and daily homework.   The preassignment she gives the week before is designed to help you learn your way around Photoshop and start to understand what each thing does.  Before taking this class I only used Photoshop for spot removing, I found it overwhelming and complicated.   I don’t know why I waited so long to take this class.  I have learned so much and I can’t wait to practice what I have learned.

  42. This class as been amazing! I have learned so much in just 4 short weeks. Mickie lays everything out so well offering not only written instructions on how to do things, but also videos! I am a visual learner so this is very helpful for someone like me. She also does a whole week of Pre-assignments which is VERY helpful. Before this class I had only opened up photoshop maybe 1 or 2 times, so the pre-assignments really helped with getting familiar with how things work before diving into the ‘actual’ learning! This class is worth every penny and I would totally recommend taking full participation!

  43. This class is nothing short of amazing. In four short weeks I went from having only opened PS once and being too scared to even try anything, to being able to make all the images I’ve had in my head finally start to come to life. Granted, there is a lot to learn and I’m still nowhere close to where I want to be, but I can see all the possibilities now and that is an amazing gift to have been given.

The materials are all well laid out and updated for the latest version of PS. The PDFs and videos are all excellent and I know I will be watching them several more times until all the concepts fully sink in.

I am so glad I took the full participation class. Mickie’s feedback was sooo fast and unbelievably helpful.

I really can’t recommend this class enough. Not being afraid of Photoshop anymore has really opened up a whole new realm for my photography and I’m so excited to see where it will take me!

  44. I knew absolutely nothing about PS when I purchased this course, but the reviews and following Mickie on Instagram convinced me that this would be a wonderful investment. Mickie does not hold back and provides so many ways to teach the concepts. She will even go as far as doing videos during the daily share threads to show you how to fix something. She is so involved and quick to respond to all everyone’s daily submissions and weekly assignments and I am shocked by how much I have learned and progressed this past month. I have always been intimidated by PS, but Mickie has a way of making it fun and approachable—thank you, Mickie :)

  45. Julia Signorotti

For so long, I have wanted to learn photoshop, but it wasn’t until I read about Mickie’s class and then read her bio (and yes, MAYBE looked at her FB and IG:)) that I knew this was the instructor for me. I started this class super intimidated, but with Mickie’s daily individual feedback on everyone’s photos, encouraging words, editing support, and weekly assignment feedback, I feel like I have a great foundation of PS principles. This class is loaded with information that can be downloaded and saved for review after the end of the class. If you’ve been on the fence about stepping in to Photoshop, don’t wait any longer! Mickie made this such a great experience and I can’t recommend her more highly!! Thank you Mickie!!!

  46. There are so many things about Photoshop that have intimidated me for too long, so it’s hard to overstate how grateful I am for this class! Mickie is amazing at breaking things down into manageable steps and she is super responsive to questions, so things start to click really quickly. We covered so much ground during these 4 weeks and I’m doing things in Photoshop I never thought I’d even try to tackle. I only wish I had taken this class much sooner!

  47. If you are thinking of taking this course, do it! It starts out a bit overwhelming but there is a reason for each step. Once I was part way through week one, I understood the reasoning. There are so many things to learn. Mickie is a wonderful instructor and gives us her time and expertise. She responds quickly if you have questions. Take the class, you won’t regret it.

  48. The course name says it all and Mickie is amazing at teaching you all the magic! Mickie’s easy-to-follow pdf’s and informative videos are fantastic. She will help you turn your less than perfect shots into something amazing. This course is as fun as it is magical. Mickie’s feedback is helpful and thoughtful. I highly recommend this course.

  49. I have been using Photoshop for years for photography edits and had a basic knowledge of adjustment layers and what the tools do but until taking this class I had no idea how much I DIDN’T know! These last four weeks taking this class have been fun and informative and it feels so good to learn so much about what Photoshop can add to my edits. I now feel confident that I can get to where I want to go to with my editing knowledge. I can now create the photographs I want to create using all the information and tips Mickie has provided. As an instructor Mickie’s PDF’s are chock-full of information and the videos provide step-by-step visual guidance to walk you through what the PDF explains. It was all SO helpful. Mickie is very responsive to any questions you may have and her video feedback is invaluable. This has been one of the most valuable photography classes I have taken in terms of the knowledge gained and in terms of feeling inspired to get out there and shoot more often because now I know my editing can take my photos to the next level. Thank you so much Mickie!

  50. I started this class with a fumble and click knowledge of how to “use” Photoshop and am coming out of it with a sense of understanding and accomplishment directly because of the clear and informative way that Mickie teaches this class. She is responsive and friendly and there are no questions too small. I now understand how and why to use masking, to achieve good skintones, to smoothe skin, to fix colour casting, and how tools like patch and clone and content-aware fill can be used successfully, plus so much more that I can’t list here. I feel like I have been handed a whole toolkit and the knowledge necessary for how to use it going forward. The bonus that I didn’t expect to get from this class is that her guidance actually has helped me to SEE my images more clearly … what is needed, when skintone is off, when a sky looks wrong, etc. and I find myself trying to look at my photos with a more critical eye. Sign upf or this class if you want to stretch and grow and if you want to go from a fear or a poor understanding of Photoshop to actively enjoying using it.

  51. It is clear from taking this workshop that Mickie loves Photoshop and also really wants to help others learn it as well, which makes for a great teacher and beneficial workshop. She is very present in all the threads, answering questions left and right and not missing a beat. This class works for beginners, as it starts from the very basics in the preassignment week and continues to go more in depth as the weeks go on. Mickie gives detailed critiques every week to full participants and helps you learn the tools and techniques of Photoshop to create art as you envision it. I highly recommend Mickie as an instructor!

  52. before mickie’s course,i was a total photoshop newbie – i’d played with a few concepts, but masks and layers were a complete mystery to me. mickie turned the mystery into magic – she clearly explains and demonstrates, both written and videos, with quick guidance for all of our questions. f you find PS to be a mystery, but want to find the magic, mickie’s course unlocking the magic of photoshop is the place to be. highly recommend it!

  53. I am a Photoshop-phobic. No question about it! I’ve found a million reasons to put off taking a Photoshop class for years. Until now. All I can say is if you are a PS-phobic like me, fear no more because Mickie DeVries will get you there! Mickie is a phenomenal instructor. She is knowledgeable, personable and patient. She answered my many (many!) questions thoroughly and with such grace. She spent time clarifying the information I needed and verifying I understood.

It didn’t take long for me to figure out I was in safe hands with Mickie. She truly wants you to learn and to see the magic inherent in Photoshop. Every video I watched contained nuggets of gold, and every day I found myself saying, “If only I’d known about this…”

Take Mickie’s class! You will be so glad you did and you will gain skills to help take your photography to the next level. Thank you Mickie! Honestly, I am so grateful to you for your support and thrilled I finally got over my fear of Photoshop.

  54. Hi Mickie – I would love to take the class starting on October 12th but full participation is sold out. I need the full participation for the accountability and to stay focused! Do you know when this class will be offered again? Or is there any chance of additional full participation seats opening up? Thanks!

    1. Hi Jennifer! Sorry I’m just seeing this now! The next class is 01/11/21, it will open in December for registration. It typically sells out so I recommend grabbing a full participation seat sooner than later if you prefer fp :). I hope to see you in class :)

  55. Hi Mickie, I want to learn Photoshop. My interests are nature photography (landscapes, plants in their habitats). At this time, my main interest is to do my 1st edits in Lightroom (which I currently use), then pull into Photoshop to do some more fine tuning (e.g., removing distracting objects and/or as a tool to help with focus stacking). Though the Full Participation is filled up, I am interested in taking it as Study Along. Given my interests, do you think this is the class for me or is there a different one offered by Click that I should take? Many thanks.

    1. Hi Katie! My best advice is for you to look through the concepts taught week by week that are listed above to see if the concepts are ones you would benefit from. The first week is mainly retouching along with some helpful tips in Photoshop that might not be as useful as the other weeks, but even week 1 has concepts like liquify that can be used with macro for interesting effects. I have had quite a few non portrait shooters take this class and found it helpful, especially week 3 on color and textures taught in week 4 can really add to nature photography. Let me know if you have any more questions I can answer ❤️

    1. Hi Susan! Other than I post new content each week there’s no specific schedule to follow. You can move through the steps of the lesson whenever you have time. For full participation students there is also a due date for assignments to be turned in for critique but those are always due at the end of the week. Let me know if I can answer any more questions!

    1. Hi Kelly! Sorry I’m just seeing this now! It is open for registration currently for the October 12th run ❤️

  56. Jyotsna Bhamidipati

This is def One of the best Photoshop workshops there is! Mickie is so talented and her PDF’s and videos are so detailed! Photoshop has been intimidating for me for the longest time and she breaks all the details in bite sized videos for anyone to easily understand and grasp the information! PS doesn’t have to be scary anymore! There is soo much for me to practice still and I am excited about the endless opportunities in PS! A must workshop for everyone !

  57. This course is a MUST if you have ever been intimidated by trying photoshop or perhaps wondered if you were using the program at full capacity. Mickie DeVries is such a gifted instructor. She somehow took a very large, all encompassing program and broke it up into smaller pieces that were quite easy to understand and process. Furthermore, she demonstrated multiple ways of achieving the same desired effect for each topic so that the learner can adopt the best method for him or herself. I cannot tell you how many “ah-ha” moments I had during this course! The combination of pdf and video delivery will appeal to any type of learner. I will be referencing all of these “nuggets” of photoshop magic instruction for years to come I’m sure. I have tried other photoshop classes through other forums/companies before and have given up because I felt like I didn’t have base level knowledge of PS to understand the other courses. That was not an issue with Mickie’s course at all! You do not need baseline knowledge of PS to follow her course. I’m sure it helps, but is not required. Her style of teaching walks you through this course with ease. I learned so much as a “Study Along” student, but would have appreciated Mickie’s feedback on my own images as a full-time student. If you are on the fence about taking this course, take it!

  58. Ines A. de Toledo

This workshop has been FANTASTIC!!! I have just finished it as FP and I really recommend it! There is a lot of information really well structured which makes it very easy to follow…. but the very best of this course is Mickie. She sees aspects I would have never thought of and these will make a huge difference on the images. She is extremely fast with her feedback and suggestions to your daily practice and, her critiques to the assignments are thorough offering different techniques and editing styles. I can’t wait to put in practice all I have learnt!

  59. This course is a must-have if you are new to Photoshop. Mickie is a wonderful teacher and all the material is so easy and helpful. Photoshop can be overwhelming but with this class is easy to go step by step and really understand the process and be more thoughtful about why and how you want to change your images through Photoshop. I have to say, this was the best way to spend my time during quarantine this 2020.

  60. If you have ever been intimidated by Photoshop and feel like you will never be able to learn it, then you need to take this course. Mickie walks you through everything step by step and gives you feedback and advice on everything. I highly recommend you make sure you have the time to practice daily because you will get the most out of it. Mickie makes sure you not only understand the steps but why you are doing what you are doing so you can apply it to other images down the road. She will also troubleshoot any problems that you have. She is determined to make sure you walk away with 100% confidence in your ability to edit your photos. I have never enjoyed editing until this class. It helped me save some of my old photos and has actually made me a better photographer in general since I now understand what I can and can’t do in Photoshop. I don’t often post reviews, but this class was mind-blowing for me. I learned far more than I ever imagined that I would. If you want to understand Photoshop, this class is a must, but you have to be willing to put in the time.

  61. Karyssa Rosales

I loved this class so much, Mickie was so helpful and always answered questions in a timely manner. Photoshop is so scary but she took you step by step and made it so easy to learn! She even has bonuses that are helpful and I am thankful she included! I am very happy I participated in this class because now I can tell people I know how to work photoshop:)

Thank you Mickie for all your hard work and help throughout the course! Can’t wait to create many more amazing photos as I continue to learn!

  62. If you want to take your editing to the next level, this workshop is a must!  Prior to taking this, I was intimidated by Photoshop.  I used it only when I absolutely needed to, and I would try to teach myself via random internet videos.  So I had been looking forward to taking this workshop for a long time.  It was exactly what I needed to build my understanding of and confidence in Photoshop.  Mickie DeVries is an outstanding teacher and her workshop is the next best thing to having her sit right by your side.  The PDFs are very easy to read and the videos are easy to follow and understand.  Mickie is very thorough in both the materials and her responses to questions and assignments.  There are a TON of PDFs, videos, and many optional materials too.  There is so much great information and educational value here.

I took the full participation because I knew I would have a lot of questions.  I highly recommend doing this!  Mickie is very quick to respond on the forum, and it’s clear she wants everyone to really learn and understand the materials.

  63. Mickie is an incredible teacher, she takes complex techniques and breaks them into logical easy steps for you to follow, plus she is so generous with her advice and knowledge. I actually thought I had quite a good base in Photoshop but I’d never really approached it from a photographer’s perspective (always more design) and I learned so much about altering images: from faster, more effective methods and workflows for editing; to incorporating multiple techniques to really alter an image’s end result (dramatically so sometimes!). The learning materials Mickie provides you with are second to none, they are thorough, easy to follow and break complex concepts into very logical steps, literally no step is missed in her tutorials, which is amazing in itself. Mickie is also incredibly responsive and her advice is so invaluable. As you can tell I thoroughly enjoyed the course and can’t recommend highly enough – you’ll learn so much!

  64. This was the very first class I took through Click and I am so glad that I did. Prior to this course, I turned on Photoshop once, clicked around a little bit and said, “yeah, that’s not happening!” So I went into this course knowing nothing about using Photoshop. I am AMAZED at how much I can now do after a four week course. One of the things I really liked about Mickie as a teacher is that she goes about teaching in multiple ways- her pdfs are thorough, including screen shots that walk you through step by step, before and afters, common problems, etc. And then if you’re like me and learn much better when someone physically shows you what to do, her videos are like she’s sitting next to you at your computer. She encourages questions and really makes sure you are getting as much as possible out of the course.
Seriously, take this course. I’m a total novice and this definitely took my editing up a notch!! Thank you Mickie!!!

  65. Im so happy I took this course I don’t know why I had wait so long to do it. Its been an amazing 4 weeks of learning! I’m so much more confident using Photoshop, everything has really come together for me I feel like I have this whole new world of editing opportunities at my finger tips now, its exactly what I’ve been needing. Thank you Mickie for a fabulous course!

  66. This class is amazing! I came in knowing some about Photoshop, but came out knowing how to use it to make my pictures look how I envisioned them being when I took them. Mickie was a wonderful teacher and now I can’t wait to learn even more!

  67. This was an absolutely amazing workshop and I am beyond thankful that I decided to do full participation. The material is amazing (and there is A LOT of it) but Mickie is just a phenomenal teacher and she went above and beyond by answering every single one of my million and a half questions and even recorded new videos to make sure that I understood the techniques. She was gentle and kind but honest and genuinely interested in helping me improve. Full participation was worth every single penny.

This course is jam-packed and intense but absolutely amazing and I cannot recommend it enough! I went in as a completely terrified of Photoshop newbie and I am leaving, only four weeks later, with a solid understanding of how to edit in Photoshop and actually LOVING Photoshop. If you have the chance to take this workshop, definitely do it and choose full participation!

  68. There are already many many many good reviews from former students as well as the ones who are participating so It will be redundant for me to say how great the information of this course. You could find how to fix this, how to change that on photoshop on google, youtube, and hundreds of online learning platform like udemy, skillshare, linda, creative live, etc …& why should we spend 300$ for this course? because for me, at the end of the day, I want to interaction to my teacher, I m a human being after all and I can’t see how much I could improve or do the things correctly or not & Mickie, she is always there ( i don’t know how she managed to do as quickly like that with many students at the same time) , answers anything , gives feedback to all the pics you submit . She is super organised in all the files like other great teachers I have participated in editing courses (Jamies Rubeis and Marissa Gifford) And with the 4 weeks time span, the course has to push yourself to finish something on time and this strict rules work for me. I manage to learn many things in a certain amount of time and achieve what I want. You could subscribe to many monthly payment platforms and without strict discipline to yourself and with the busy life as a mom…it takes ages to finish learning what you want.

I myself think she delivers more than the syllabus was written on the click photo school website , I can count it as 6 weeks because you have 1 pre- assignment weeks, and 1 bonus which are as long as the 4 main weeks. I have attended many workshops here and she is one I can say to deliver the most information. I love love learning more with her and hope she will have the new course soon as photoshop is suck a powerful software and the limitation is endless. It is hard to see the time passes and I have to say goodbye to her on the platform.

  69. This is an amazing course! I knew so little about Photoshop until a few weeks ago. Mickie has given me so many tools to transform my pictures into what I want them to be! At first I was intimidated by what I might be getting myself into, but I felt like Mickie walked me through every step and every challenge and she did it so patiently. The content is very comprehensive and Mickie takes you step by step, even repeating the steps in subsequent lessons so the material sinks in. LOVE that! And no matter how many times I would submit a picture she would faithfully continue helping me through. I am now confident in the skills I have learned and am so glad I took this class!

  70. I know I’m not the first to admit that Photoshop is an intimidating beast. I would often open the application, click around trying to manipulate a photo, and get easily frustrated… until now! Thanks to Mickie DeVries and her Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop class I feel like I have the tools to edit photos they way I couldn’t in Lightroom! This class has taken my editing to another level. Mickie takes an extremely overwhelming application and breaks it up into manageable sections. Mickie’s PS knowledge, teaching style, and feedback are invaluable. If you are overwhelmed at the thought of learning Photoshop, don’t be! Take Mickie’s class, unlock the magic that is Photoshop, and take your editing to the next level!

  71. I’ve wanted to learn to use Photoshop for years, but never really knew the best way to dive in.  Well, now I have the answer; taking Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop with Mickie DeVries is the way to go!  Mickie breaks Photoshop down for a new user in a way that helps you understand what you’re supposed to do and how it relates to the bigger picture of Photoshop as a whole.  I have dabbled with Photoshop before, but the program (and how to use it) never really made sense to me.  Mickie’s instruction and prompt feedback really pulled it all together.  Along with the amazing course content, Mickie’s prompt feedback is invaluable. I would highly recommend opting for a full participation seat, as Mickie’s one-on-one attention and feedback really solidified the concepts for me.  Thanks for such a wonderful course, Mickie! I know it has to be a ton of work on your part, but you are seriously a rockstar and I really don’t want this course to end!!!

  72. I had been overwhelmed by Ps for years. I finally came to a point in my photography journey where I knew I needed to tackle learning it though. I had read multiple times that this was the coarse to take. It kept being offered during extremely busy times for me, but I decided to jump in finally and signed up for the full participation coarse. I was immediately impressed to find that there were many pre-assignments to get started on. This helped to “Unlock the magic” and help me understand more clearly before the actual class started. The coarse was clear, concise, very well done, and Mickie was an amazing teacher. I don’t know how she stayed on top of the class, especially during the holiday season. She didn’t miss a beat and was over the top helpful with comments and added videos to help explain. She was also extremely patient ;-) I am so excited about all that I have learned! This has opened up a whole new chapter in my photography. I should have done this years ago. This is one of the best photography education investments I have made.

  73. Good afternoon Mickie, I would love to do this course, I use LR lots. I am just worried about timing as we are away until Jan 3 and kids don’t go back to school until 7 Jan, Would this cause an issue, or would I have too much to do to catch up? I have not worked with PS before, so am new to it. Thanks, Aoife

    1. Hi Aoife! Are you thinking of taking it full participation or study along? Generally I don’t recommend missing most of the first week of class because it tends to be the toughest week, not so much because the material is hard but because Photoshop is new and we are getting the foundation of how layers and masking works which tends to be a bit confusing at first. If you are taking it study along and mainly want the materials to go through later and not necessarily follow the timeline as close then I think it works better to take it. With fp it’s hard to get caught up to do that first assignment in time which is a huge benefit to fp that I wouldn’t want you to miss out on. This class won’t run until May of 2020 again so that’s also a consideration of whether you want to wait that long for it to run again and whether that time works any better for you.

  74. So I am very interested in this course, but I’ve never even opened PS! I have only worked with Photos mac software and honestly don’t even know how to work with NEF files…I have been saving them in a very disorganized way thus far just in case I can someday work with them. I need a system for saving and working with them as well as learning how to edit. Is this the right course for me at this point? I have taken MME and two natural light courses and am ready to start editing seriously…. Thanks!

    1. Hi Catherine! I have had a lot of students over the years have zero experience with Photoshop and do well! If you scroll down through the reviews many mention that from past students. The first week is intense, but after that the pieces start falling into place and by the end of the 4 weeks I think you will be amazed on how much you learned! So from the stand point of having no prior photoshop experience you are fine!

As far as organization of raw files that is not something we cover in this class. You can use raw or jpeg files for all the material and since Photoshop by itself isn’t a raw editor (Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw are raw editors) we don’t cover raw file processing. To use a raw file in this class you would first edit it in Lightroom (LR) or Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) and make any adjustments you like and then pull it into Photoshop, the edits in those programs would be up to you and not covered. I do however cover how to get your files from LR and ACR or if you are working from a jpeg how to open that. That all being said beyond my class I do think editing a raw file over a jpeg offers quite a few advantages and that is what I do in my own work.

So in regards to this class and if it’s a good fit right now, are you looking for file organization for your files and how to edit raw files, or want to learn photoshop? If it’s photoshop then I think this is a great fit, if you want to get your files organized first and figure out more about raw processing then the Lightroom Fundamentals or Photoshop for Beginners might be a better fit right now. I know the Lightroom class goes over organization and raw processing. The Photoshop for Beginners goes over raw processing in ACR, but I’m not sure if organization is covered. Let me know if I can help further!

  75. Mickie took a really overwhelming program (One that I had never even touched before) and broke it down into really simple steps that I could follow. Photoshop is no longer intimidating to me and I now have all her informational videos and written instructions saved to help me in the future. Definitely worth it!

  76. If you want to advance in Photoshop at all, you need this class! In 4 short weeks you go from doing basic edits to doing full sky swaps and other amazing feats! And having Mickie and her team available and willing to do critiques of each photo is incredibly helpful. While it might seem overwhelming at first, keep going – you’ll get it and be amazed at what you can do by the end. Also, the weekly video critiques were awesome and the step-by-step videos showing exactly what Mickie does for each situation were perfect!

  77. All I can say is, take this class!!! I’ve been using PS for a while and I thought I was good enough to get by. I was so wrong! I learned so many techniques in this class that brought my editing to a whole new level. I can honestly say that my photos no longer look like they were edited by an amateur. Some techniques I learned that I will use often are: editing skin tone, adding pop to an image, removing distracting elements, and adding blur to an image. Don’t worry, Mickie’s handouts and videos explain each technique without being overwhelming. To get the most out of this class, make sure you submit edits each day for feedback. Mickie will give you suggestions on things you can do to improve. And trust me, you will improve. An added bonus for me, I no longer dread editing – it’s actually fun if you know what you are doing :)

  78. I just missed this last class offered on Aug. 26th. Will there be another one offered in the near future? If so, how can I be notified?
    Thank you.

  79. This class was a game changer! I have taken a handful of Click Photo School classes over the past several years and Mickie really outdoes herself with this class. She provides DAILY, as well as WEEKLY, feedback. I would submit work late at night on the West Coast and find Mickie’s comments in the morning in my inbox. ;) I have never had an instructor as responsive. Mickie points out exactly what you are not seeing in your images — color casts, colors in the shadows, awkward cloning that you thought no one would notice — and provides instruction on how to correct it. She also provides SO much material before, during, and after the class to help you on your Photoshop journey. I had/have so many images that I had ideas for in my head, but couldn’t translate into a reality with my former Photoshop knowledge. This class got me to the place where I can make the magical transformations that I had been dreaming about!

  80. this is the best photography class i have ever purchased, i tried improving my editing through books and YouTube videos but it was not easy for me to understand Photoshop, this course helped me so much, it is very easy to understand and everything is very well explained, Mickie takes her time and guide through the videos and you end up understanding everything before you know it!
    workshop highly recommended

  81. This course is a game changer! As someone new to Photoshop, I found the first week very overwhelming as there is a wealth of information to lay the ground works for the rest of the course. Mickie answered any and all questions so I could get a grasp on what I was doing, which made the next three weeks easier! Things began to flow in week two and I was feeling more comfortable with working in Ps. I have seen so much growth in my photos through this class and I love the magic Ps can add to a photo – you will too! Worth every penny! Thank you Mickie!! ❤️

    1. Thanks so much Tracy! That first week is definitely intense, but sets such a great foundation for that learning to flourish, so glad you worked through that tough week!! I always joke that the first week no one likes me, but by week 4 I’m likable again

  82. WOW! The amount of time and information Mickie has provided to her students through this class is fantastic! Every week you will learn something new. All of the pdf instructions and videos are organized, well presented, and super detailed. Mickie’s commitment to giving feedback and encouragement throughout the entire course is fantastic. This course was my first full participation class, and I highly recommend full participation – the video critiques received are priceless. Thank you, Mickie, for a fantastic 4-weeks of learning and all your help!

  83. I have been looking at this workshop for several months and actually thought it was no longer going to be offered, so was super glad to see the May run come up for registration. I knew a few basics of PS but Mickie has opened up the door to way more powerful edits! Mickie knows the program well and her materials are thorough – I’ll be referencing them for a long time to come, I’m sure.
I look so forward to using what I’ve learned in my photography editing.
    Thanks, Mickie!!

  84. What a treasure trove of information! This course was fantastic and I finally feel like I have the tools to give my photos that extra something they have been missing. I often wondered how some people just seem to be able to get their subjects to jump off the page at you and now I know! Thank you Mickie for a great course.

  85. Svetlana Dimitrova

All I have to say for this class is:
It is AWESOME!!! Just sign up for it!
Read all the reviews to see what everyone says about it.
But basically you will regret only if you don’t take it.

  86. Hi, just wondering when this workshop is likely to run again!.. I didnt take the last one because I took ‘the illuminated view’ but I’m very keen to do this next time!

  87. I LOVE this class! It has been amazing and a game changer. There was so much information taught. Mickie explained everything so simply and easy to follow in the PDFs and videos. She gave critiques on all of the practice submitted and promptly replied to any questions, plus she often gave tips beyond the materials as well. I had no prior knowledge of PS but now I feel comfortable using PS to enhance my pictures the way I imagine them looking. Take the Full Participation class! It is worth it and you will not regret it.

  88. This has been the absolute best class! I have thoroughly enjoyed learning from Mickie! This class is packed FULL of information and she simplifies the process so well for you that you are able to understand easily. She gives feedback on your daily work that often contains tips beyond the class and promptly answers questions to ensure you understand the concepts. I had no prior PS knowledge and now I feel so comfortable using PS. I am excited to dig through my pictures and start enhancing them with PS. Make sure you take the Full Participation….it is absolutely worth it. You will not regret it!

  89. Elizabeth Hargrave

I would say that I had the basic working understanding of PS but not always sure how to access or use the tools to always achieve my vision for each image. After these 4 weeks with wonderful feedback on each image and how to continually learn and improve I feel confident in tweeting my images to my vision. I feel like this course has been game changing for me.

  90. If you are interested in taking your photography to the next level this is the class for you! I have been so inspired by the photographers I follow (such as Mickie!) and have wished that I could give my images that extra *oomph* for too long, and I am so glad that I took the leap to finally learn Photoshop. In the past I when I have had specific edits in mind I have googled how to make the changes and done a sub par job attempting to navigate my way through Photoshop. This class really opened my eyes to what I didn’t know I didn’t know. I now feel so confident going into Photoshop knowing that the possibilities are endless. The most valuable thing I have gotten out of this course is the knowledge of where to go when I have a specific edit in mind! Mickie and the TA’s did a wonderful job giving constant feedback on the forum and helping troubleshoot what can be a very complex program! Taking this course as a full-participation student was an investment that I am so glad I made!

  91. Valerie Holley

“Learn Photoshop” has been on my to-do list for a couple of years now. PS completely overwhelmed me! I vacillated for a long time about whether to take this class. I am SO glad that I took the leap!

Mickie is a great teacher. She is very knowledgeable, and more importantly, she is able to break things down in a way that is very clear and accessible. She was present in the class forum every day and was quick to answer questions and give helpful tips. The critiques that I received each week were so thorough and constructive! I felt like Mickie wasn’t just there to teach me the material, but also to encourage and guide me as an artist, and help me achieve my vision. I am so glad that I took this class from her!

I cannot recommend this class enough. And if you’re on the fence about full participation vs study along, I strongly encourage you to do full participation. The critiques that I received from Mickie were one of the most helpful portions of the course. For me, it’s been worth every penny!

  92. Stacy McEligot

I can not say enough about how much I have learned during this course. After years of trying to figure out PS on my own I finally have developed an understanding of the fundamentals and learned tons of tricks and tools to create the images that I want through this class. Mickie is incredibly responsive, patient, and clear in her explanations and video feed back. She provides individual descriptions and videos to answer questions and trouble shoot problems. There is an incredible amount of information provided in this course and the PDFs and videos are so helpful as a resource after the class is over.. This class has been life changing in terms of my editing workflow!

  93. Sign up for this course! You absolutely will not regret it. Mickie is such a patient and thorough teacher, she made this course so enjoyable to participate in. I started off being strictly a Lightroom user and now I can confidently say that I love Photoshop after this workshop. There is so much feedback and helpful tips, as you are practicing and learning the new skills being taught. I will be holding onto this course content with white knuckles and referring back to the material constantly :) The course content was taught in a way that was easy to understand. Anything you needed help on Mickie was there to reassure and offer helpful tips and resources to correct the problem. I love love loveddd this workshop! I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to learn more about photoshop. I’ll be keeping my eye out for more teaching resources that Mickie releases :)

  94. If you are thinking about taking this class, my advice is to go for it. As a busy parent of four growing kids, I wasn’t sure if I was prepared or would have the time to follow through all the material. However, Mickie is a amazing instructor and you can tell she genuinely cares about the success of all her students. There is a lot of useful tips, tricks, and techniques covered in this course and I highly recommend it!

  95. Tiffany Billington

This class was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It was most definitely a game changer for how I use Photoshop, which was incredibly painful before this class. Mickie was such a great teacher and answered all of my questions so quickly, which is so nice when you are in the middle of editing and completely stuck and have no idea why. I can not recommend this class enough if you are intimidated by photoshop at all. Sign up quick!!

  96. This course is full to the rim with useful and easy to follow instruction for Photoshop. I actually went into this course with pretty extensive Photoshop knowledge, and still came away having learned several new tips and tricks. Mickie’s course is well thought out and organized such that it is easy to follow. She is able to explain pretty complicated subject matter and break it down in a way that is easy to understand. I actually wish I had taken this course years ago when I was starting out; however, it’s never too late! There is always more to learn and new ways to do things in Photoshop. I now feel like I have some new tools added to my tool belt. This course is worth the purchase for both an entry level and seasoned Photoshop user.

  97. I just completed Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop and it was totally game changing! Not only did I go from thinking photoshop is scary to feeling confident using it (and not just basic curves – you learn how to add skies and change colors and liquify!) but I know this will change how I approach taking pictures too now that I understand the potential behind the tools! @mickiedev is an absolutely wonderful teacher. Her dedication, patience and passion for the subject (not to mention incredible depths of knowledge) shine through in all she does. You also get to see her amazing work and process and that has been so inspiring! I highly recommend the full participation version of this class – it is beyond worth it. I have learned so much from the materials but also from trial and error using feedback from Mickie and her TAs. Mickie makes videos of all the weekly assignment critiques but also of anything helpful that came up during the week (and now I need to go back and save them all to watch and learn!!). I truly cannot recommend this enough. I wish I took this a year ago and saved money and time buying one off editing videos and stalking you tube tutorials.

  98. This class is amazing! I was definitely a beginner in Photoshop before this class. I was really overwhelmed by it and had not a clue what I was doing. I now feel really confident using PS and I am so excited about how it has helped my editing! There was SOOOOO MUCH information given. Not only did you have PDF that walked you through each technique but then you also had a video to show you the process as well. Mickie also provided some introductory videos before the class started for beginners, such as myself, to help us start getting familiar with PS and layers. She also provides a video to show her start to finish workflow which was also so helpful. I cannot recommend this class enough. I have taken A LOT of workshops and Mickie is by far the most helpful teacher I have ever had (and that bar was already set pretty high). She would answer my questions and my classmates questions so quickly. If we were struggling with something she would help show us how to correct it. There were numerous times where she would answer our questions by making a video of her helping show us what to do in PS. This was so helpful!!!! Her critiques of our final weekly assignments were also really in depth. She always made sure to touch on all of my questions and things I told her I struggle with and gave great suggestions. I could seriously just go on an on about how great this class and Mickie are. Take this class and take it Full Participation. You will not regret it!

  99. I cannot recommend this workshop enough and this is one you should definitely take as full participation. Save up for it— eat ramen for dinner, sell some stuff on eBay, stay away from Starbucks for a month…save and go all in. You WILL have questions (many, many questions) and Mickie is a hero at answering the calls for help. I think she must eat, breath, sleep this class for the month that it is in session. I know I did! I was dreaming about creating duplicate background layers!

I am so comfortable with Photoshop after 4 weeks that I’m actually excited to take my photos over from Lightroom—where as before I was terrified. Prior to this, I’d tried to learn PS in bits and pieces via various youtube videos–soooo frustrating. Committing to a month of learning—starting with the basics and all the way up to warping was so much smarter.

Photoshop is a powerful, amazing, fun, creative, complex beast, and taking this workshop is like going to Hogwarts and having Professor McGonagall as your instructor.

  100. Seriously, this class has truly changed the way I edit my photos. I always thought I’d strictly be a LR girl but this class has changed me for sure. Mickie includes so much content into the PDFs and videos that what was once so intimidating has now become part of my work flow. There is still so much to learn and try. I wanted to take my photography to the next level and I feel like this class has helped me so just that. Mickie is such a natural teacher, I’m pretty sure she could have my class of Kindergarten students editing in PS, she’s that good! I’d highly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to learn PS or expand on their PS skills.

  101. This has been an awesome class! So much useful information. I had no experience in PS before this. I didn’t even own the app. Mickie gives you so much detailed and easy to follow steps to walk you through everything. From videos to pdf’s and answering questions. She was always right on answering anything I asked and even would create videos to explain things better if we needed them. It is worth every penny and make sure you to get a full seat to get the most out of it. I will be going back to her jam packed info for months to come. I’ve had a great time. :)

  102. What an amazing class! Mickie is so knowledgable and responsive. This class is a MUST if you what to professionally edit your images. If you don’t have a grasp of Photoshop, I would strongly suggest you take this class FP, so you can ask lots of questions. Mickie often takes student images and then edits them herself with specific tools that are highlighted for the week. She creates a video showing the techniques and her thought process. If you already have a pretty solid understanding in Photoshop, this class will take you to the NEXT level! Photoshop is a massive program and you will learn new ways to accomplish tasks and streamline your workflow. Most important, you will walk away from this class with a new confidence in your editing skills! Thank you Mickie for such a well thought out, supportive and thorough class!

  103. This workshop is phenomenal and I am now able to edit with confidence! Before this class I was totally intimidated by Photoshop. I am so glad I signed up for this class. Mickie is the star of this course, I seriously can’t believe how thorough she was with answering questions and making sure everyone in the class was able to learn at their own pace. She was so fast answering questions that any stumbling block was quickly remedied and I could move on. There is information presented in both video and PDF form…and there is soooo much packed into this course. I can’t believe how much I learned in such a short amount of time. If you want to learn PS, I can’t image there is a better way to do it than taking this course. Sign up…you won’t regret it.

  104. I wanted to share what an amazing course this is! I have seen some of my photographer friends whose work I love describe this workshop as a game-changer, and after taking the course myself I completely agree!
Prior to this workshop I had downloaded Photoshop but rarely used it because I found it so intimidating. I am now much more comfortable pulling my images into Photoshop to enhance them in ways that cannot be done in Lightroom! Mickie’s materials are so clear and thorough and I know that I will be referring to them again and again! During the workshop I learned how amazing Photoshop is for cloning, enhancing color and contrast, adding textures, sky and weather overlays, correcting/smoothing skin and dark circles, and much more. Mickie is an amazing instructor and she is very present in the forums, providing very helpful and detailed feedback. I’m so glad that I took this course and I highly recommend it.

  105. The Magic of Photoshop was a game changer for me. I am no longer intimidated by PS. I have a firm grip on the software and have Mickie’s incredible materials to turn back to. Mickie was a fabulous instructor and introduced some great techniques throughout each course. She has a wonderful way of explaining things and her videos are fantastic. I took the class FP and I really think it was well worth it. Mickie is constantly on the forum and her video critiques are thorough and thoughtful (as well as super timely). If you are on the fence – take this course. I feel so happy to have finally learned how to do magical things in PS.

  106. I cannot say enough about this course and Mickie DeVries! Seriously, if you’re on the fence about taking it, just do it! This class is chock-full of information, which can be intimidating at times but Mickie has it organized so incredibly well with a combination of PDFs for quick (but still incredibly thorough) reference and videos to watch her make the edits and see how it all works “in real life”. I had some experience with Photoshop before this course but I learned so much and even the few things that I did know now make so much more sense and I can apply the tools effectively. I think one of the most important things about this course is the teacher herself. Mickie is incredibly attentive and responsive, whether it is providing a written response to questions, an additional video response or the thorough critiques. She clearly wants to make sure everyone “gets it” and loves PS as much as she does. I cannot wait to continue practicing and applying the techniques I learned. This is hands down one of the best photography course (if not the best) I’ve ever taken! The only negative about the course is that there isn’t currently a follow-up Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop Part 2 ;)

In regards to full participation versus study along, I had really debated which one to do and initially wasn’t sure if I could make the FP version work for me, based on my travel schedule as well as cost. It worked out for me to take the FP course and I just wanted to say that if you can take the full participation course, I would strongly recommend it! Being able to ask questions and get critiques was invaluable to me. I had really debated as to which version of the course I should take and I am incredibly glad that I took the FP and would do it again in a heartbeat but I still think the study along version would be amazing for anyone who wants to take the course but FP isn’t possible for some reason; Mickie has done such an amazing job on making sure that the course material is clear and thorough. Just wanted to pass that along since it was something I wondered myself prior to taking the course.

  107. I can’t begin to tell everyone just how much I learned in this workshop. It is JAM PACKED with awesome information! Like many others, I have been intimidated by PS. I have tried googling/you-tubing my way through some of the functions, but the problem is that it wasn’t always geared toward photographers. So for a few months I have been just tip-toeing my way through this program that I knew had sooo much more potential for me. When I saw this workshop become available again I signed up immediately and I am immensely glad that I did! Mickie, Kellie and all of the alumni are so knowledgeable, supportive and giving of their time. I don’t think there was ever a question that went unanswered, and if there was any sort of confusion, Mickie was quick to supply screenshots or make a video to help you really understand. I also have to mention how inspiring it was seeing all of the other student’s transformations!

This was my first time taking a class for full participation. I have been a member of CM for a few years now and I have always been a lurker. I am a bit shy and tend to just read and not post so I was very nervous going into this class knowing I will have to participate. Not once did I feel uncomfortable posting in the forum for this class. EVERYONE was SO supportive and encouraging. It was truly a wonderful experience being a part of this workshop and I hope that anyone who feels even a little bit intimidated or frustrated with PS to take this class. You really won’t regret it!

  108. I will sing the praises of Mickie DeVries and her class, Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop, for the rest of my days. This class was ‘on my list’ for some time, but I put it off for too long because I felt like I got by pretty well with the few photoshop tips and tricks I had picked up and by googling. Let me tell you, how much I didn’t know and how hard I made things on myself. Mickie’s class covers SO much material – the videos and PDF are incredible. This is material that I will come back to over and over and over in all of my daily editing. And I have to add that Mickie is absolutely amazing. The endless time she spent with each one of us, thoroughly answering every.single.question we asked (and there were lots!) – she truly wants to ensure that everyone fully grasps all the material and is comfortable using everything she teaches. I have taken a lot of classes here at Click Photo School and this one definitely ranks among the top. Thank you Mickie!

  109. I 100% recommend this class! Anybody who’s thinking about taking this class I encourage you to do so. Mickie provides very detailed videos and PDFs each week that are so easy to follow and understand. Mickie, her TA, and alumni helpers provide feedback and answer questions almost immediately. Mickie will even make a video to further explain/demonstrate concepts that we might be having a hard time with. Before taking this class I knew the very basics and felt intimidated by PS, but now I feel confident using PS and am actually creating magic with my images. Thank you Mickie for all of your help and for being such an amazing instructor.

  110. Stephanie Faucheur

Thank you ! Thank you ! Thank you ! This class was a game changer for me. I’ve learned so much in 4 weeks. Mickie is just incredible. She is always present, answers very fast, checked and commented our work daily. The comments were so clear. The videos are really good and easy to follow. A MUST to take class!!!!

  111. Jessica Featherstone

What an incredible course! I learned so much and Mickie was there the entire way guiding and supporting. Mickie was incredibly responsive on questions and always so positive. As a beginner, I found Photoshop to be very intimidating. Mickie broke down complex concepts simply and made them easy to understand. I really feel that Mickie has helped take my photography to the next level! Thanks for everything Mickie!

  112. This workshop was exactly what I was looking for! I was spending too much time googling my way through Photoshop, attempting to figure out the tips & tricks on my own. Mickie has everything in one place with clear, concise explanations. Her feedback was wonderful & quick, and she was always around to answer any questions throughout the week. I would totally recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to really harness Photoshop in their workflow!

  113. The extensive videos and course materials are chock full of step by step instructions, tips and tricks to make PS usable and less intimidating. Mickie and the TA’s are available daily to answer questions, offer suggestions and provide feedback on picture shares. The weekly personalized critique provided by Mickie for each assignment is priceless, especially for someone starting out in PS. I have often looked at photos and thought,”wow how did they achieve that edit?” and now I have the tools to understand how and why a photographer may edit a photo. You will not be disappointed with this course!

  114. I just finished UNLOCKING THE MAGIC OF PHOTOSHOP with Mickie Devries. This is my first course with CM and I am so glad I took it. Before taking this class I was little nervous about how much I can learn given my crazy daily life schedule and my very limited Photoshop skill; how much help I can get from the instructor… I was surprised how responsive and how dedicated Mickie is, whenever I post question, no matter how minor it is, she responds. She even records video for my weekday exercise. I learned so much from Mickie in this short 4 weeks, although I still need to digest what I learned, but I am lot more confident now using Photoshop.
I come to register this course because all my friends whoever took it recommended to me, and now, I strongly recommend this course to anyone who needs to learn or improve their PS skill!
    Thank you Mickie!

  115. Stephanie Sawyer

This class is phenomenal and well-worth the money spent. Mickie is a wealth of knowledge and a generous and excellent teacher. She devotes herself to the course and its students and is available to answer every questions and comment readily on student shares. The material is presented in an easy-to-understand fashion and the videos help you to see the concepts in action. I leave the course with a firm understanding of how to use Photoshop to achieve my vision and I’m confident and comfortable in the program. Perhaps most valuable is Mickie’s thoughtful critiques and edits of your own images, and being able to hear her own thought-process as she edits various images in the course. If you are on the fence about this course, I whole-heartedly recommend investing in it!

  116. This class is life changing! Mickie does an amazing job with the materials and makes everything so easy to understand. I had never used photoshop before starting this class. After 4 weeks, I am confident in replacing a sky, removing a garbage can, smoothing skin- you name it! Mickie provides so many videos and step by step instructions so that you are able to figure it all out. Take this class, you will not regret it!!

  117. 100% recommended! This is actually a 5 week course because Mickie armed us with the necessary PS language before even getting started with the course. I downloaded Photoshop the day before this class started! I was worried I would never catch on, and that I would only learn how to do crazy and complicated edits. There are definitely ways to push the envelope with this class, but I loved how Mickie taught us how to make subtle tweaks for a polished and professional photo to really be proud of.

  118. I don’t even know where to begin! I am primarily a LR user and knew next to nothing about PS before I started. I could do just a bit of cloning, but nothing else. I was super nervous before the class started, but that quickly went away. My learning style is by watching and doing, so Mickie’s videos were PERFECT. And the best part is, the PDF’s that accompanied each week’s lesson details exactly what’s covered in the videos. So it will be the perfect reference tool after the class has ended.

I have learned so many things I hadn’t even thought of before the class started. PS is such a powerful tool and Mickie’s class was EXACTLY what this beginner needed!

Thank you SO MUCH Mickie!! This is exactly what I was looking for to give my images a more polished finish!

  119. I am currently in the last week of the Workshop Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop with Mickie DeVries. I had just taken Photoshop for Beginners with Marissa Gifford and was worried I would be paying again for the same information. I was wrong! Both classes I would recommend and I was very happy with Mickie’s teaching style. The way she sets up the PDFs with the corresponding videos is very streamlined and easy to follow.  I took it full participation and she was very quick with critique videos. I was able to learn actions, head swaps, and sky overlays which was very helpful! Don’t hesitate to take the class you well definitely get your moneys worth!!!

  120. Mickie is an amazing and dedicated teacher!! Before taking this class, i didn’t have Photoshop installed in my MacBook and now i am not afraid to take my pictures to PS to enhance my images and make it magical. I am a full participation student and i think it’s worth every penny. I truly enjoyed this class and will continue to incorporate PS into my editing workflow.
Changing skies, adding sun, sun flare, lens flare, cloning and skin smoothing were things i couldn’t do before and now I equipped with the tools and knowledge to make my pictures magical. Thank you Mickie for your constant help and additional videos to explain a tool, greatly appreciate and value your help!

  121. With this class, Photoshop went from something absolutely scary and daunting to something that will be part of my regular editing. Learned so much in those 4 short weeks. The material created (both written and video) is very well made and structured. The support from Mickie and her TA Kellie is incredible as well as everyone involved in the class forum. This was my first workshop but will most certainly not be my last! Loved my experience.

  122. As I near the completion of Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop, I just wanted to encourage anybody who is intimidated by PS to take this course!! Before this course, I was a 100% LR user because PS always ended in tears for me. Happy to report, not a single tear with this class and have full confidence that PS will take my photos to the next level that I know they need. The course was PACKED with goodies and while I still have a lot to work on and understand, I’m very confident with the tools and instructions @mickiedev gave me! Also, @mickiedev is a saint!! I asked her a zillion questions and she was always so timely and patient with my repeated questions. Not only did she answer them thoroughly, but she made me multiple bonus videos for my images. Don’t go as long as I did without PS – sign up for the course and dive into the magic!!

  123. WOW! All I can say is WOW! This class took a very powerful and intimidating program and broke it down into chunks that were very digestible and easy to follow. I had literally never opened PhotoSHop before this class and I now feel comfortable working in it daily! Mickie is so patient and the content is top-notch! I would recommend to anyone that wants to really tap into the power of the program!

  124. Mickie’s course is one of the most worthwhile courses you can take at Clickin Moms. I knew nothing about Photoshop prior to taking the course – I hadn’t even opened the program – and after completing the course I have learned a bunch of worthwhile skills that will really help me enhance my photos – things that other editing programs just can’t do. Mickie’s materials are very user friendly – they’re the sort of materials you’ll be able to to refer to years down the track. Perhaps one the things I noticed most during the course is how incredibly generous Mickie is with her time and how she makes herself constantly available to her students. I don’t have the easiest time understanding technical details (like learning new software) and I must have asked a number of technical questions throughout the course and Mickie never made me feel bad or that I was wasting her time. I really cannot recommend this course enough!

  125. I took this class 1.5 years ago and I still think about how much I learned from this class–it was absolutely a game-changer for me. Mickie was amazing–she was incredibly accessible for q&a throughout the week and puts her heart and soul into making sure each student is mastering the material. The materials covered the technical side in a clear, step-by-step manner, and the feedback I got throughout the week of how I used the techniques (i.e. too little, too much…additional tips to make an image stronger, etc) was invaluable. I took a 4hr weekly photoshop class in a classroom as part of a graphic design school certification program, and I’m not kidding when I say I learned more in Mickie’s one month class than I did that whole year.

    1. Hi Laura,

I think this is the review that will sell me on the class! Did you take the class in full-participation or as a study? I’m excited to take my photos to the next level.

Thanks in advance for your answer!

    2. Thanks so much Laura! This was so sweet of you to come back 1.5 years later to tell me how useful this class has been for your editing. Nothing makes me happier than hearing this!!

  126. Whether you’re brand new to Photoshop or have been using it for years this workshop is amazing!! I’ve been a Photoshop user for 20 years, all self taught, so I initially hesitated taking Micke DeVries’ course because I wasn’t sure if it would have enough new content for me personally. Wow was I SO wrong!! I learned something new every week – even in the pre-assignment!!! :) I’m walking away from this course with pages of notes, an arsenal of new tools to add to my tool belt and a world of confidence every time I open my “To edit” folder. My shooting is even stronger because I start with a better vision in mind. This is honestly one of the best investments I’ve made in photography and my only regret is not taking it sooner!!

  127. This class is hands-down amazing. Amazing instructor and amazing content. I was not a new PS user prior to this class, and I still learned A TON! Full participation is the way to go – Mickie is so kind and helpful in her critiques, and those critiques are really what pushed my growth. It was definitely my favorite part of the whole class! I would take this class over and over again! I can’t rave about it enough.

  128. I’m just finishing up the latest run of Unlock the Magic of Photoshop and it has been amazing! Prior to this course I had used Photoshop sparingly and quite honestly it was really overwhelming to me. Unless there was no way I could do something in Lightroom I avoided PS at all costs. I took this course as a full participant and having the feedback and critiques has been so helpful. Mickie and our TA Kellie Bieser have been very active and so have the alumni helpers and fellow students. There is a ton of information covered and I know that I will be utilizing the PDFs and videos long after this class ends. I found the step by step videos particularly helpful. When I was working on a skill I could follow along on the video, pause, work on my own photo and go back and forth. Mickie also does a great job at mentioning different issues that may come up and explaining how to tackle those which helps a lot when you are learning a new skill and a bit overwhelmed. And if for some reason you get stuck on something, you can very easily get some help in the forum. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed in Photoshop or just looking to hone your skills, I can’t recommend this course enough!

  129. This class has been a game changer for my editing! Prior to this class I was scared to open up PS. Mickie’s PDF is clear and concise and her videos walk you through each step of the editing process. I am so thankful that I read through prior reviews for this class and took it full participation. Mickie gives 110% in the forum and her critiques provide a wealth of information. If you’re hesitant to use PS in your editing, do yourself a favor and sign up for the next run…you won’t regret it!

  130. This is a must for everyone. PS is such a massive undertaking and Mickie showed me how to use it in a practical way. I am feeling so much more confident in my abilities with it, and I love the results so much more when I incorporate it into my workflow. This class isn’t just another “let me show you what these tools do” and nothing else. Mickie shows how the tools can be used to give your photos a more finished look. The videos are so educational and the good thing is, they’re broken down in a way that I can come back to them over and over, and find them easily. I highly recommend this course.

  131. If you are afraid of using Photoshop in your workflow like I was, sign up for Mickie’s class today! I cannot say enough positive things about this workshop. Truly a MUST TAKE class. The materials are thorough and the topics are taught and explained into great detail. Not sure if you’re understanding something correctly or experiencing issues with an edit? Ask Mickie! I don’t think there was a single question asked that she was not able to answer.

I think you get the most of of this class by daily practice. Mickie and her lovely TA’s answer questions etc on a daily basis so if you run into an issue, there’s help close-by. What worked well for me was editing along Mickie’s video’s and then trying it myself after.

Mickie covers a lot of material and the first week was a little overwhelming for me as a complete PS newbie but once I worked my way through those materials, a world a magic truly does open. I can now edit my images in ways I did not know where possible. Who knew cloning could be so much fun? :-)

  132. This class is a total game changer. Not only does Mickie teach you everything from the very beginning, but she does it in a patient, thorough way and gets you beyond the confusion. The basics alone have made such a difference in my editing! Now I know the power of masking! What a difference that alone makes! Playing with color, blurs, enhancing skies, adding light rays and overlays – it is really super fun and addictive…be prepared to want to spend a lot more time in front of your computer perfecting your images! I absolutely LOVED this class.

  133. Carmen N Garcia-Irizarry

This is course is one of the best I’ve ever taken. Mickie gives you so much information. Photoshop has always seem so intimidating for me and Mickie dispelled that view. She will give you a lot of great critique. If there’s something you are having a hard time achieving, she will make a video and show you how to achieve the look you want, and she’ll do it using your own image. This is the course to take if you want to take your editing skills to the next level

  134. I learned how to edit with LR about a year ago, and while I love it, I really wanted to learn both LR and Photoshop so I could use both programs when needed. PS always seemed so overwhelming to me–layers and flattening, all those buttons and tabs. I had no idea where to start. Mickie’s course really took all of the guesswork out of the equation. She provides thorough explanations and examples. I was surprised to see her in one of the videos–she demonstrated how PS works by stacking transparencies on top of each other as a way for us to visualize layers. It was SO helpful in building my understanding of what I viewed as a very complicated program. She’s also quick to upload additional videos for people as questions come up which are really informative. I also really appreciated how she structured her PDFs and videos–you basically read a short section of the PDF and then watch an accompanying video and then can practice the skill on provided pictures. It is such an effective way to teach. Thanks Mickie for a great class!

  135. Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop definitely lives up to its name. Mickie revealed a treasure trove of ways to do things in Photoshop that empowered us to make our photos match our vision. I never knew about frequency separation, even would have thought I’d ever use it to retouch and refine human skin before taking this class. Most of the items on the toolbar in Photoshop were just pictures to me, I didn’t know what the icons stood for, and for some of the ones I recognized, I didn’t know how to use them. Week by week we learned what many of the tools are, and how to use them in everyday photographic situations that we could relate to our own work. Prior to taking both this class, I was intimidated by Photoshop and all the features so I rarely used it. Now I use much more routinely and have fun using it! If you want to learn to use Photoshop like a guru take this class, you won’t regret it!

  136. I highly recommend Mickie’s class! I had a tiny bit of knowledge of Photoshop before this class, but now I can finally say that I am comfortable using it as a part of my editing process. Mickie shared so many videos to guide us through using PS & she also showed us several different ways to do things. Before this class I found things like adding a sky overlay or cloning large objects so intimidating & impossible really. But now I get excited to try all the new techniques I’ve learned! Thanks so much Mickie!

  137. Magic is right. This class can really transform your photos and give your work such an incredible boost! The videos seem to be an endless wealth of knowledge! (Seriously… I haven’t even watched them all yet!) Mickie is such a generous instructor with her time and knowledge. I have learned so much from her, but the thing I wanted most, was the ability to add skies, suns, and flares. I mastered that and I’m thrilled! Thank you for an awesome class, Mickie!

  138. Before class, I completely relied on actions for editing, never really knowing how to put MY fingerprint on my images. Thank You to Mickie, Kellie, and all of the wonderful Alumni Helpers, because of their honest and thorough critiques, they have given me complete confidence in my editing skills and I am now able to complete my final vision from start to finish. This is a MUST take class! It is jam packed with detailed how-to videos and written content to help you create magic in this powerful program, Photoshop and take your editing to the next level. Mickie is most attentive, responsive and her devotion to help you succeed is second to none!! Don’t think twice! Sign up NOW!! Thanks again @mickiedev for such an AMAZING workshop!!

  139. This is a fabulous course, full of information & instructional videos which will be a great resource for future reference. I have downloaded everything I can and I have found watching the other students critiques also very informative. However, for me, what set this course apart from the many other PS course on the internet is the level of personal instruction available, Mickie’s time commitment is amazing, I wish I had been able to commit more time myself to take greater advantage of this opportunity to get personal assistance. Thank you Mickie & I will certainly take any other course you may offer in the future.

  140. This is one MUST TAKE class here on CM. I knew my way around LR pretty well, and had put off taking PS, thinking I could teach myself PS slowly over time. Wrong! Every video (from other sites) that I watched didn’t start teaching from the beginning, nor was there anyone to help when I couldn’t get my screen to do what the video was demonstrating. Then I took this class-full participation. It is packed FULL of learning, and Mickie is one of the most attentive instructors I have had here on CM. She encouraged sharing screen shots if you were “stuck” and she was always a short time away to help get me on track. Her generous CC for even the simplest daily shares was invaluable for training me to see more objectively. And the transformations from all the participants was nothing short of amazing. The creativity potential that she has opened our eyes to is mind blowing. You need to take this class!

  141. I can’t say enough how much I recommend this class. Mickie really knows her craft and she is such a great instructor full of information, tips, and always with an answer to every question. The material that comes with the class syllabus is just great and she offers extra videos and demonstrations. I’m really glad I registered for this course and now I have the ability to take my editing process to another level with the use of this powerful tool. I recommend the full participation if possible as Mickie’s critiques are so complete and helpful!!

  142. Amazing! I felt like I got my money’s worth with this class. I have been trying to learn photoshop for years. I’ve subscribed to numerous YouTube channels, bought more books than I would like to admit, and “follow” social media groups to soak up anything I can. Although I am a highly self-motivated person, I have not been successful in teaching myself photoshop. By the second week of this class, I was feeling so confident and no longer intimated by photoshop. Prior to this class, I would open up photoshop, click around on layers and some of the tools, cringe, then close the image and hit “don’t save”. Now, I can look at a picture and think of ways I can enhance it. I’m not saying I’m a pro in 4 weeks, but I can say that I finally understand the program! I have since watched a YouTube tutorial and actually understood what they were doing! Time to crack open the stack of photoshop books on my desk :). Mickie’s style of teaching is fantastic. She is detailed, patient, and attentive. The material is SO great, easy to follow and organized very well. The video critiques blew me away, she addressed all my concerns and it felt like she was sitting right next to me. Can’t say enough good things about Mickie and this class.

  143. I concur with all that has been said about this workshop. It is a real game changer! I highly recommend it, you won’t regret it. I have taken a lot of workshops, and yes it was really worth it. I would recommend to take it as a FP if you can, as the feedbacks, and the QA help a lot. Mickie adds also some videos based on the diffiuclties you can face during the workshops, it is very interactive. Mickie is a wonderful teacher, and Kellie as TA is super helpful too.
Do not hesitate if you are interested in PS capabilities.
I am so sad it is finished, and so happy to have this solid foundation that will enable me to continue my PS journey.

  144. Taking this class has definitely given me the freedom to take more creative license with my images! I loved learning about PS in this way. Mickie makes it seem super easy by giving step by step instructions and fantastic videos that describe several different ways of doing things! I’m amazed at how much I learned in just a month. If you are looking for a way to open up PS for you from the total unknown to be able to open it with confidence, this is the course for you! Practicing with all the tools helps so much and with the daily shares, I got so much good feedback. I’m so glad I took this course!

  145. This is third class I’ve taken through Clickin Moms, and it is exactly what I needed to finally be able to transform my images into what I want them to be. Mickie provides tons of videos and detailed PDFs, but more importantly, she is so active in the forums. The feedback from Mickie is priceless. If you’re having issues with getting an image how you want, she goes the extra mile to help you understand how to do it. Before taking this class, I knew how to do one thing in Photoshop. I thought that since I knew how to use LR that’s all I would ever need, but I was wrong. Photoshop was confusing and daunting, but after taking this course, I feel that I have a good, solid foundation of understanding how Photoshop works and will easily be able to continue to build on my knowledge. If you’re debating whether to take this course – do it! You will not regret it!

  146. Wow, did I love this class – I’m so sad it’s over! I had taken the Pure Photoshop class a few months ago so I went into Unlocking the Magic of PS with a good understanding of how to do basic things – but this class helped me take everything to the next level. The course material is presented so clearly and so detailed – it covered everything I’ve wanted to know! Now I really feel like I can bring my photos to life the way I’ve always wanted to.

Mickie is an AMAZING instructor – she’s extremely responsive and gives wonderful and encouraging feedback. And the TA Kellie was wonderful as well! Couldn’t say better things about my experience. Highly highly recommend!

  147. Recently completed this course and it was AMAZING. Definitely one of the most impactful classes I’ve taken, not only at Click Photo School/Clickin Moms, but ever (and I’ve taken a lot of classes!) Mickie DeVries has opened my eyes to the concept that it is not necessary to know everything about Photoshop in order to use it to create significant transformation, drama and impact in my photos. The PDFs where beautifully and clearly written and contained tons of useful information on cloning, color enhancement, color substitution, frequency separation for enhancing skin, textures, overlays, sky replacements and tons more. I was really impressed with how much information was included and how relevant it was to the type of photos I take. There are also exhaustive videos for every technique covered in the PDFs. The preassignment is like getting an extra week of class and materials. The critiques themselves are a huge value because Mickie takes your photos into photoshop and shows you (and everyone else–whose critiques you also have access to) how to fix various issues and she made a ton of extra videos as we went along to help. Honestly, I kind of think she is a time traveler because I’m not sure how she is able to do everything she does in the class! Take it full participation if you can. I’ll definitely be going through the materials and video tutorials over and over again. A truly transformative and eye-opening class. HIGHLY recommend.

  148. I cannot recommend Mickie’s class enough!! I had never worked in Photoshop before and this class gave me the confidence to transform my photos to suit my vision. I was really impressed with the level of detail and thoroughness in all of the materials Mickie presented. She was also wonderful at answering any questions we had and gave very thorough feedback on all assignments. If you have the chance to take her amazing class, I would encourage you to be a Full Participant- being able to ask questions and receive feedback makes a big difference.

  149. This class is exactly what the title describes. You will learn to unlock magic. Do not worry if you’ve never used Photoshop before. I had never used photoshop and I didn’t feel left behind at all. I took the class as full participation and I am so thankful I did. I learned so much from the beautiful teaching materials, Mickie’s daily interactions and Q&A. She clearly has a heart for this class because she was very attentive to all of us. She even makes videos to review your weekly homework or if there’s a challenging item in the lesson you’re struggling over. I started intimidated by Photoshop and finished feeling confident and excited about all the possibilities of Photoshop. I can’t recommend this class enough. Mickie, the mentors, and my classmates were amazing! The only con to this class is that it was over too soon. Invest the extra money and go FULL participation. You won’t regret it!

  150. I’ve had PS for a long time, but was intimidated by it. I’m a LR girl. But for those instances where LR couldn’t rescue my image the way I needed, I’d bring it over to PS and taught myself some of the tools like cloning, healing, patching, and in extreme instances, I would struggle through liquify to make my girlfriends happy. LOL! But I’ve always wanted to know how to replace skies, change the color of something, play with the tones of an image to better match the vision I had for it — those are some of the things I yearned for but never took the time or the challenge to learn more about them. I saw Mickie’s workshop pop up, read through the course topics, and thought why not. And I’m so glad I did!! This class delivers! On all of the things you’ve always dreamed of doing in PS — so you can tweak your images to better meet your vision. It’s amazing! Mickie is a great instructor. The pdf’s and the videos are thorough and amazing. And at the end of each week, after you turn in your assignment, Mickie does a personal video critique of your image! Praising the good, offering suggestions for what could be improved, and even further to that, she jumps into your image on the video, and shows you why and how you could change the edit! The time and effort she puts into this is amazing!

So if you’re looking for that perfect class that will take your pictures from OK to terrific, just do it! Sign up for it! Full participation. You won’t regret it!

  151. Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop with Mickie DeVries (@mickiedev) ended today. I am sad to be done. I learned so much this month! Before this class I was so intimidated by Photoshop. I never even opened it! Now I have so much more confidence in my photo editing. Mickie really goes above and beyond as the instructor in this course. This is my second CM class (mastering manual was first) and I am just so impressed. Mickie takes time to go over your daily posts. She posted extra videos as times to help with things you may be struggling with. The course material is great and well put together. There is so much information. I would highly recommend taking this course in full participation, you will not regret it.

  152. Prior to this class, I knew just enough about PS to try a few things and get very frustrated. PS is such a powerful and amazing tool and can do SO MUCH more than LR to help enhance your images. If you want to learn how to make your sooc images match your vision and become the pieces of art that they are meant to be, you have to sign up for the next run of Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop with Mickie Devries. Mickie gives you the keys – the tips and techniques – to unlock your artistic vision, regardless of your shooting style/genre. You can still utilize LR for many of your image improvements, and learn to take your images to the next level using PS for the things that LR just cannot do! Mickie shows you how to do that! The course materials are super detailed and the instruction goes to another level with numerous videos that allow you to follow along step by step and quickly master the material and techniques. If you or a fellow workshop member have a specific question or need some trouble shooting, Mickie is right there to explain and if needed, demonstrate with a custom made video to step you through it! If you are intimidated by, or know a little bit about PS and would like to move on to the next level, THIS is the course you need to take full participation – if you can swing it – as you learn so much from the questions and work of others as well! You will not regret it!!!

  153. I have owned Photo Shop for years, but never used it. The few times I tried, I quit with in minutes. Mickey’s class, Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop does JUST That! . She gives you the tools, from basic to more advanced to edit your photos when LR is just not sufficient. While I don’t tend to spend hours editing photos, I can now enhance my photos or fix problems well beyond what I can do in LR – plus its fun! Mickey’s videos are step by step and easy to follow. She is also extremely responsive to questions on a daily basis during the class. I will be able to use this material over and over again! This class is a great investment in improving your photography!

  154. I have always been intimidated by Photoshop and have put off trying to learn it for a long time. I finally took the plunge and signed up for Mickie DeVries’ class – Unlocking the Magic of Photoshop. I’m so glad I did. Mickie puts so much into this class. The videos and materials are so thorough and helpful and will be a great resource for me forever. The class is organized so well and makes it all seems so much less overwhelming. After taking the class, I feel like I have a grasp on how to do a lot of awesome things in PS and I have the base of knowledge and confidence moving forward to keep learning on my own. Mickie was so available and helpful whenever I had questions. I highly recommend taking the class as a full participant. You won’t be disappointed!

  155. Take the class…STAT! After numerous failed attempts to learn photoshop on my own, this class what EXACTLY what I needed. I was strictly a Lightroom user before, but now after Mickies attentive teachings I am proud and excited to be able to navigate PS and am well on my way to getting exactly what I want out of my images. I was worried about taking an online class because I learn more from seeing/watching but with the videos she includes every week my learning needs were completely met. I love that you can read and learn from your classmates as well. Can’t say enough good things, wish I took this class a year ago! Thank you so much Mickie!

  156. I recommend this class to everyone who asks me about how to learn Photoshop. I knew very little about Photoshop coming into and left with a fairly comprehensive understanding of the basic functions, which served as a great foundation to learn even more. I could then watch videos online, etc. and actually follow along with what they were saying. Mickie is a great teacher. I did Study-along because I was on a strict budget, but I would recommend full participation if its in your budget. I still learned a lot, but I think that to have the immediate feedback would be even more helpful.

  157. Wow, this class is so powerful! If Photoshop makes you want to run away from home, get brave and TAKE THIS CLASS! Clear your schedule (you’ll want the time) and dive right in. Mickie gives SO MUCH to everyone in this class, going way above and beyond to make sure everyone’s questions are answered, and epic fails are fixed. Before this class, I opened PS with one eye closed and often quit without saving. Now, I am using it regularly and it is EASY! Thank you, Mickie!! <3

  158. If you are new to Photoshop, then this is the course for you. I was a complete novice but now I feel confident to tackle many editing tasks. Mickie is possibly the best instructor that I have come across on Click Photo School. She explains so clearly and patiently, is always around to support and encourage and her critiques are so helpful and full of positive advice. The videos are easy to follow and I know I am going to be using all the materials provided for many years to come. I can’t recommend this course enough!

  159. When I started this course I couldn’t even save a document in Photoshop. Now I can confidently apply so many techniques and it feels so natural to do so! I’m reeling off everything I did to a photo and have astounded myself by my progress in only four weeks. AMAZING!

WOW – just an amazing course. Mickie is super sweet and extremely patient, responding to queries and your assignment submissions very quickly. The material is comprehensive and actually overwhelming – especially for a newbee to Ps – however if you take it in small chunks it is manageable.

I would highly recommend this course :)

  160. I have watched many youtube videos and learned photoshop from other workshop, but never have been seen a great teacher like Mickie. Both PDFs and videos are amazing. This workshop has a lot of information but Mickie demonstrate very clearly. It was very easy to follow her and understand how to use the different tools. I strongly recommend this course!

  161. Such a great workshop! Mickie is a wonderful and gracious teacher. She really opens up the world of Photoshop and makes it fun. If you’re considering signing up, do it! You’ll love it!

  162. What a fabulous class! Mickie provides hours of instruction and information each week, with clearly explained concepts and step-by-step instruction to help you get the most out of your images. If you’ve ever hoped to turn good images into great shots, this is the class for you!

  163. I was someone who had always closed PS as quickly as she opened it. Mickie’s course turned out to be the perfect solution to help encourage and teach me to keep PS open and to use it more often. I love being creative and now I have so many tools to help me to enhance and rescue photos that I wouldn’t have necessarily bothered with before. She is very generous with her time and content– there are lots of videos and great pdfs to read- and if you haven’t used PS previously–she tries to help bridge your knowledge with some basic tutorials at the start of class. Definitely put this class on your list to take.

  164. What an intense four weeks this has been! I have learned so much in this class and can now do things I thought I would never be able to do! Cloning/textures/overlays/clipping masks/templates….it is so fun now! Of course I wanted to pull my hair out many times and I am sure I still will but this has really opened up my editing world immensely. And even though I didn’t get to try everything that Mickie taught us and I have all the videos and pdf’s and can go back at any time to try it. Her videos and written instructions are so good you can literally follow along in PS while watching the video and figure it out. Thank you for such a great class Mickie!

  165. Everyone is saying this class is amazing, and Mickie is over the top helpful with the way she explains and supports her students…because it is totally TRUE! If you are trying to get those magical looking images and just haven’t quite been able to achieve what you envision with a preset or the way you currently edit…take this class! There are also many helpful hints and golden nuggets she drops along the way in her video critiques and in the Q&A threads…so be sure to partake in that and you’ll be so glad you did!

  166. I took the plunge and signed up for Mickie’s “Unlock the Magic of Photoshop” full participation. I had basic knowledge of Photoshop prior to this class and I feel that I have learned SOOOO much from this class. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made on my photography journey. If you’ve ever been on Youtube looking for videos to figure out how to do something but end up wanting to throw your computer instead (guilty), This class is for you. I wasn’t frustrated once in this class. Mickie was so organized and all of the information was easy to follow. I had so much fun learning all of the things I had struggled with trying to figure out on my own before. It was such a supportive and fun environment! Great class!

  167. Before this class, I definitely fell into the category of knowing Photoshop just enough to bump along, but not enough to do a complete edit. Mickie designed a class to help anyone at any level get more out of Photoshop and take their photos to the next level. It was a game changer for me. I’m so glad I finally signed up!! Her videos and PDF are easy to follow and show how making small changes in a photo can create a big impact. I just finished this run, but am anxious to go back through all the week’s information again and keep practicing. I highly recommend this course.

  168. I was so fortune to take this class, and enjoyed the fabulous month. I was so scared to use photoshop before, and deleted a lot of potential pictures. I even watched a lot of youtube video to help myself to understand it, but unfortunately, still couldn’t get the concepts. But Now I’m so proud that I can use photoshop pretty well to edit my pictures. Mickie Devries is a wonderful teacher, she shared a lot of practical tools and commented everyday’s practice and critiques seriously. I completely recommend this class. Thanks a million, Mickie, love you!

  169. I was looking for a Photoshop class to take because I wanted to learn it but books weren’t working for me. I saw all the reviews for this class and decided to take a chance and do the full participation. I am so glad I did. Mickie goes above and beyond what any instructor I have ever had has done. If you do not understand something she explains it in detail and makes a video of how to do it correctly or more efficiently. The class is over but it will take me four weeks to go over all of the videos again. I printed out the pdf’s also because they were so detailed. Do take this class – it will be the best $300 you have ever spent.

  170. I have just finished the May/June 2016 run of this course. I was definitely a bit PS phobic beforehand so took it to get over my fear! I am so glad that I did. The class is packed full of materials and clear instructions to help you work through the steps and I really liked the fact that copies of the images in the tutorials were provided so that you could practise on those first. Mickie was lovely – quick to respond and providing very helpful, constructive feedback and for this I would definitely recommend full participation. I feel much more confident moving forward now – and ready to start tackling the backlog of unedited images on my hard drive …!

  171. I recently completed the January 2016 run of this course as a study along student. I would highly recommend this course to anyone looking to take their use of Photoshop to the next level. And do so as a Full Participation student if you can swing it. Unfortunately those seats were sold out before I had the chance to sign up, and I did not want to wait for the next run.

It was such a transformative course for my editing and workflow. I now know how to fix things in my photos, both large and small, that have been a thorn in my side! We all know those photos where one person blinked but everyone else looks nice? Head swap time! That cute photo of your kids with ugly tree branches sticking out of their heads? Clone it out! I’m so glad I learned the skills needed to do these things and more from Mickie.

Do not hesitate to take this class! I learned so much not just from the course materials, but also from watching all the critiques from various students.

    1. Hi Megan! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave your review! I think it will really help other future study along students decide if the course is right for them!

  172. This class has finally helped me overcome my fear of PS. I have been editing in Light Room for 7 years. I had dabbled in PS in the past with a few books from Scott Kelby and even a course at the local junior collage. I took Lisa Harrison’s Processing 101 class last fall and Processing 104 with Mickie in January. It has finally clicked! Mickie’s class is very informative and covers all of the fun things PS can do with your images. Color enhancement, overlays, cloning and portrait touch ups are just a few of the amazing skills I have in my tool box. Mickie is very responsive and answered all of our questions clearly. Her step by step videos are so easy to follow that even I could do it. I loved the class so much that I am going back and working through it again on my own time to catch what I missed during the first pass. It is such a relief to no longer have to dread the emails from clients asking about head swaps, making them look thinner and adding a pretty sky. Thank you Mickie!

    1. Yay Shelly! I’m so happy you feel this way! I think the phrase “Can you just Photoshop that?” has been adopted by so many clients now a days! I just read an article that Photoshop has become a verb with the way so many people ask to about it! I’m so glad that you can now not dread those emails!

  173. This class was truly a game changer for me! After multiple “failed” attempts at learning Photoshop finally I found a class and an instructor that spoke to me and focused not on the whole abyss that is PS but rather those specific tools within PS that can really transform your images. Mickie and her team of CM Pros and alumni helpers were incredibly supportive and determined to make sure that the class participants were “getting” the material. I would say that full participation is the way to go with this course and my only negative feedback is that the course needs to be longer. It really is that good and Mickie is the best!

  174. I have been editing in LR only for years and finally took the plunge into PS for that extra bump. I have started to dabble in PS before but was always either overwhelmed or bored with the “this is the lasso, here it what it does, etc” teaching manner of other resources. Not so with Mickie’s fabulous class! I LOVED every single week and always wished I had more time to practice. Instead of taking you through PS in a mundane manner, she teaches you how to achieve the look or effect you want and the tools necessary for that particular outcome. She makes the process fun and enjoyable and is fantastic about answering questions and even adding a video to explain something further. Absolutely loved this class and would recommend it to anyone! Thank you Mickie! You are awesome!

  175. Michelle McNulty

I had never opened photoshop prior to signing up for this class and was very intimidated the first week. I actually requested to drop the class and find a class that was more fundamental or even take a lightroom class first, however the CM policy does not allow this, which was unfortunate. However, Mickie was amazing in her efforts to make sure I felt comfortable with the material, even emailing to check in to see if I needed help. She is patient, thorough, positive, timely and very organized. While I do wish I would have taken a LR class first, as it seems a lot of people edit in LR before editing in PS, I am happy with all that I learned in this class. Mickie is truly a wonderful instructor.

    1. I know you were so frustrated that first week, and the first week is hard, but I’m so glad you did the work and saw it through. I was amazed at your progress, even by week 2 you seemed so much more comfortable in PS. Photoshop is an amazing program, but it’s massive and not always easy in the beginning, but you prove that hard work pays off! I think this class is definitely a compliment to Lightroom users that just want to be able to edit in PS the things that can’t be done in LR, but Lightroom is not a requirement for this course, and not necessary to have knowledge of for this course. I do provide support for LR users for how to best use PS to complement their workflow and for getting their images into PS and back to LR though as I find that many people use this combination for editing. It was a pleasure getting to know you Michelle :)

  176. If you are on the fence at all about taking this class I would highly encourage it! I also would encourage taking this class as full participation because Mickie is an invaluable resource when it comes to Photoshop. I had little Lightroom experience and zero Photoshop experience and this class improved my editing skills so much, I really cannot say enough good things about it. Mickie is there to answer all questions and all her material is very helpful and easy to follow, she will even make videos during the class to help answer your questions. I was very intimidated by Photoshop before the class and am now very comfortable using it on my own! I am so thankful to Mickie for taking time away from her family to share her hard earned knowledge with me, thank you, thank you, thank you!

  177. Mickie’s course on PS was AH-MAZING! I had zero knowledge of PS (or LR) and actually thought it was a course on PSE. lol Mickie’s course has made me convert to PS/LR for sure! The course information was detailed and easy to follow. Also, it was extremely helpful to have step-by-step instructions in written form (PDF) as well as video. I learn best by reading and was very grateful to have this learning method as an option. She was kind, thoughtful and extremely knowledgable. The weekly video critiques she provided helped me follow her thought process and gave me specific ways that I could improve my work – while providing a visual example. You will not be disappointed when you sign up for this class! It rocks and so does Mickie!

  178. Oh my gosh, Mickie, this was the very best Photoshop class I have ever taken! I am a devoted Lightroom user, but my eyes have been opened to all the possibilities and ways to create unique art in PS. Yours was one of the best CM courses as well, and I have taken a lot of them. I have tried so many Creative Live and Lynda classes and tutorials trying to learn PS and to be honest, they mostly put me to sleep. Just the setting up intro videos usually put me to sleep and then I don’t make it through the rest. This class is so different. The first day, we jumped into some of the most helpful tools and learned how to actually apply them to edit our own portraits. I learned by doing. I often read the PDF, watched the video, tried and then read, watched and tried again. Slowly I got it; but unlike my other attempts, I actually really learned how to use PS to do the things I want to with a photograph. I finally understand levels and masks, because I had to use them. You covered all the basics, even though this wasn’t a how-to photoshop class. I cannot thank you enough for all the wonderful details and complete instruction in the PDF. Better yet, you complimented the printed PDF with short and concise videos that showed me how to do so many things I have been wanting to do. And your video critiques were another lesson in themselves. I want to be an alum helper just to keep pushing myself to work with all the wonderful PS tools and skills you taught. Thank you again for your wonderful class. You are a gifted instructor and such a sweet person to learn from.

    1. Hi Julie! Thank you so much for your great review. I really tried to make it not only instructive, but also geared toward photography, so I’m glad that you found the topics easy to apply and useful!

  179. If you are on the fence about whether to take this class or not…..TAKE IT!!! And take it full participation!! Mickie is a wealth of knowledge and so super sweet and she explains things where it is easy to understand, and if you don’t she makes sure you do! I had never even edited AT ALL in Photoshop before this class and now am so excited to pull my images in and see what i can do! It is a jammed packed 4 weeks of information, but it is so exciting at the same time….instead of feeling like you need to make time for the class, you WANT to read every pdf and watch every video because the information is so great! It is amazing all the things you learn in such a short amount of time….I had never swapped heads, changed skies, made or used actions at all before this class….and that is just a few of the things we learned! The feedback Mickie gives in her critiques along with the TAs and alumni helpers make the full participation a must…i couldn’t imagine taking it any other way. You definitely can not ask for a better instructor, I truly wish Mickie had more PS classes offered because i would for sure take them! I learned so much and am honestly so sad to see the class end!

  180. I loved this class!!! If you have been struggling with Photoshop, this class is a MUST. I am primarily a LR girl, but there are things that I knew I could do in PS and I wanted to know how to do them, but whenever I would try I would get lost among the tools and the details until I just gave up and decided it wasn’t worth it. Mickie’s class made photoshop accessible AND fun! She is a fantastic teacher – her materials are phenomenal and she was so dedicated to making sure that we understood them. Many times, she would create an additional video mid-week to address any confusion that she saw amongst our group. I cannot tell you how much more comfortable I am in PS now that I’ve taken this class. Mickie is amazing (and we had some wonderful TAs too – they deserve a shout-out as well for all their advice and assistance) and I am happy to recommend this wholeheartedly!

  181. Just WOW! The amount of work that Mickie put into this course is incredible. I was amazed at how much was covered in the short 4 weeks we were all together. All of the pdf instructions and videos were organized, well presented, and super detailed. The best part of this course was watching how well everyone’s photos and skill improved from each week into the next – which is a testament to Mickie’s commitment to giving feedback and encouragement through out the entire course. I had an overall knowledge of Photoshop related to graphic design before taking this course, and the 4 weeks with these materials greatly improved my technique and use of the program for photography. I highly recommend full participation – the video critiques received were priceless.

  182. This class was incredible. I learned so so much — how to do things better/more efficiently for those things that I already knew as well as how to do so many other things I’ve always wondered about. I would *highly* recommend it to anyone looking to expand their knowledge of Photoshop and give themselves more tools to create better images. Thank you, Mickie!!

I was fortunate to get the last spot in the first run of this workshop. I am still blown away at all the information Mickie covered in the 4-weeks. Before taking this class, I edited in LR and dabbled in PS with actions. I knew how to use layers and masks, but not to the extent that Mickie covers. And I had no idea how to head swap, use a texture, replace a sky, fix a color cast, attempt frequency separation, etc, the list is endless, and now I’m confident in doing all of this and more. I highly recommend taking this course full participation. Mickie is super helpful in leading you through an edit, responding to questions, and her critiques are extremely valuable in helping you learn. Mickie gives suggestions on getting your edit complete; she does not just address the topic in the assignment. I can now hand edit a photo with no action, and even though it’s OK to use actions, it’s nice to know I don’t necessarily need them. I finally processed a photograph that had been sitting on my computer for months, unable for me to process it the way I envisioned it, and now it’s in my portfolio. The course is divided between extremely helpful, information packed PDFs and videos explaining each and every technique covered. Critiques are given in video format so you can see how to correct your own photos. If you want to tackle photoshop and all its powerful tools, you have to take this class. You will be blown away!

  184. This class was wonderful, I cannot believe how much I learned in 4 weeks! Mickie’s video critiques were spot on and so helpful! Everything is clear and explained well- I highly recommend this course!

  185. I was fortunate to take a spot in the first run and I am very very happy with what I have learned! I started with absolutely no editing knowledge in Photoshop, I formally edited only in Lightroom. Besides that I learned how to navigate in PS, make adjustments and properly perform edits, the whole world of creative editing was disclosed to me. I’ve discovered so many useful tools that can help me to enhance my images and from now on I will definitely use PS as a part of my editing work flow. I need to add it was so much information in a short period of time and what I appreciate the most that Mickie was always there to help us through. I loved her thorough CC’s and prompt replies to the questions making sure we understand the concepts! Mickie gave us so many amazing tips that I know I would never have learned on my own. The course is definitely intense and loaded with lots of precious information, but the PDF’s are easy-to-read and the videos are very clear and presented in a logical way. This is a really great workshop to take. It doesn’t matter weather you are just starting out using Photoshop or have being for a while. It really can fill in the gaps, especially for those who is self taught. You will gain a lot of fundamentals that are crucial for beautiful editing! Thank you Mickie and thank you CM for offering such a great and fantastic course!

  186. I don’t think I could possibly say enough good things about this workshop. I really could barely use PS at all before taking this class, other than to change the exposure of my images. I learned how to enhance eyes, skies, skin tones, add textures, use cloning tools, and so much more! Mickie’s materials were very well organized, and she did a great job of explaining exactly how to do each technique. I really felt supported and encouraged all along the way. I’m really glad I took this class, and that Mickie was such a wonderful instructor!

    1. Oh my goodness Leah, thank you for such a great review. It was my goal to make this course easy to follow, which can be hard with such a massive program like Photoshop so I’m so glad you felt like I accomplished this!

  187. Words cannot express how much I have learned from Mickie during this course…I have had a hate-hate relationship with PS, and while there is so much I still don’t know, Mickie shared A LOT of specific tools so that I can play now! I was able to rescue images that I had saved for the day when I knew how to remove unwanted ‘things’ in my photos, replace skies, use textures, and the list goes on. Even more impressive, is that given the strong basis I have after this course, I can actually look at videos teaching other things I want to know in PS, and I UNDERSTAND them. This course is wonderful, but you HAVE to keep up. Mickie has been so generous with everything she shares – both in video and PDF format, that you need to stay ahead of it. I am enthusiastically recommending you take this course if you’re willing to work with the tools Mickie gives you, and have the time to put in…

    1. Thank you Cheryl! What makes my heart so happy to hear is that you gained the ability to not only be able to do the things I taught, but that it opened you up to even more possibilities because you understand the program a lot more!!!
