Learn to pose a variety of subjects in this course, which covers the fundamentals of posing, working with toddlers and teenagers, posing men and women, and working with families and large groups. We will discuss many different types of posing situations, why they work, and why they may not. At the end of every week, watch a video of Lora working with her own subjects, learn how she maneuvers in the field, and see her transition from one pose to the next.
This course will help beginning photographers move beyond auto mode and get the most out of their DSLRs. Students will learn basic concepts of composition and how to use natural light to their advantage. Students will transition from point-and-click shooting to shooting in semi-automatic modes and being a mindful photographer. Topics such as interacting with subjects, capturing details, storytelling, and gaining inspiration will be covered in a patient and supportive environment.
This introductory studio class will start from the ground up as participants will learn how to position their lights and take a handheld meter reading. We will learn about how to use light ratios and various lighting styles to create portraits to flatter our subject. Accent lights such as background lights and hairlights will also be taught. Detailed lighting diagrams and sample photos will be shared to help participants create stunning images, including Jes’s recipe for perfect high key every time.
