So you have heard all the great things about Adobe’s Lightroom, but you just don’t know where to start? Afraid of shooting in RAW because it just seems too overwhelming? Or you’ve got the basics down, but know that you’re still not using it to its full potential? This is a 4 week workshop designed for photographers who currently shoot in RAW and want to expedite their post processing with Lightroom. Lightroom 101 will walk you through the Library and Develop modules and help you to establish a solid workflow to speed up your editing time!

Orlando native Lynne Rigby is a self-taught photographer with a formal background in education. She specializes in beach and lifestyle photography. Lynne is the mom to five kids and is married to her high school sweetheart.

This is the best workshop I’ve taken so far! I was using Lightroom for several months before taking this course and struggled with skin tones and basic processing. I also never liked processing my images as black and white because they always lacked something. After the course, I learned about so many functions Lightroom offers that I never explored, learned how to get perfect skin tones, and I really got the hang of my workflow, organization, and adjusting my images.

I had LR3 loaded on my computer for 6 months and was afraid to open it before I took this class! Thanks to Lynne and her outstanding teaching, I now have a complete workflow in Lightroom. Lynne’s lesson are easy to understand and follow. She gives you a PDF of instructions for each lesson and then shows you, via video, exactly how to do it Lightroom. She makes it impossible not to learn it! Plus, she will answer any questions you have just to make sure you fully understand. This class is truly amazing.
If you have Lightroom, stop reading these reviews and just sign up! Right now!!! Lynne does a fabulous job sharing the ins and outs of LR! I had taken Lynne’s Shooting 201 and she covered a lot of LR in that course and wasn’t sure if it was worth taking this class. Boy, am I glad I took it!!!! The week we covered skin tones, I told my husband if I didn’t learn anything else in the workshop that week alone was worth the money! I now feel confident about converting a photo to black and white which is huge because that was a goal of mine this year!! I no longer worry if it is a muddy or flat conversion!! There are SO many videos that walk you through each step of how to process your photos!! She also covers how to organize your photos and use the tools LR provides! WOW!!! I’m glad I learned about this early on while my girls were still little so I can properly organize my thousands of photos!!! The critiques you get back from this class are without a doubt the best part of the workshop. I highly recommend taking the full participation so you can participate in the critiques and get feedback. It’s amazing how you think it looks good and then turn it in for a critique only to find out something that you hadn’t even noticed. It really helps to train your eye!! Lynne has a background in teaching so she REALLY knows what she is doing!!! I am in LOVE with LR and I know it is all because of Lynne and her amazing workshop!!!! Take it!!!
It’s no exaggeration that I think about writing Lynne a thank you note all the time for everything I learned in this class. To think that I almost didn’t take it because I thought I knew enough about Lightroom from my book(s) and YouTube is laughable now. The information is comprehensive, the tips and tricks are invaluable and Lynne is a wonderful (and patient) instructor – not to mention an inspiring photographer!
This is an extremely educational class. It took time and concentration to complete this class in a month and it was worth every second, because I can guarantee that I would have spent years learning all that I learned in this class, and would not have understood it like I do now. Lynne is an amazing teacher and is so very patient and knowledgeable. She takes you step-by-step through the process of learning to edit in Lightroom and makes it easy to understand!!! This is a must-have class for anyone wanting to learn more about Lightroom!
I had LR for about 2 months before I took this class. I had some basics down but I knew that there was a lot more to LR than what I was using. I was right! I learned so much about LR and felt I made huge progress on training my eye. The feedback from Lynne and the other pros as well as from the other participants was huge! I agree with the others that the skin tones lesson was worth every cent I paid for this class. But there is so much more! If you are even thinking about this class, take it! You won’t regret it!!!
I came into this workshop not knowing any thing about Lightroom…heck I don’t even know how to import photos. But, Lynne made it so easy for me!! This workshop is truely “learning from start to finish”!! I am so glad I took this class!! Now I can do my bulk editing in Lightroom and cut my post editing time to minimal so I can spend more time on things that are more important…like my family :) If you are wondering if you should take this class, wonder no more!! Do it and do it now!! You will not regret it :)
this is now my third class with lynne and i learn so much each time. i had no real knowledge of lightroom (besides for what i learned in lynne’s shooting 201) and i now feel like i really *know* lightroom. i am comfortable editing and working with my photos. all the videos and lessons were so helpful…i can’t wait to go back and watch them again and practice what i learned. the difference in my photos is amazing. take this class!!
I used Lightroom for over a year before I took this class. It was amazing the number of tools staring me right in the face that I never knew existed! Lynne is an excellent instructor and walks you through each step. The videos and numerous examples are especially helpful. I am so much more confident in my editing skills after taking this course.
I can’t say enough great things about Lynne and the amount of information you will learn in this class. I have been using Lightroom for a while, and questioned whether I could learn more from a 4 week workshop. Well, now I just have to laugh at myself because I learned a ton and there was so much I didn’t know! Lynne takes you from step 1 in setting up your backup system and catalog all the way to creating a stunning edit that will wow you, your family and friends. She is a caring, warm, encouraging instructor who is very available to her students – really wanting them to succeed. If I had to rate this workshop I would give it 10/10!! You really won’t regret it, and most importantly, you will gain the very important confidence and knowledge you need for a successful editing workflow.
Lightroom 101 is phenomenal, from start to finish!!! Thanks to this class, my photos are now organized AND properly backed up. (I sleep easier at night now!) It was overwhelming for me at first and I felt like I was in over my head but Lynne is so supportive and responsive that I was able to “get it.” The class is so full of information that it is well worth the cost. Once you can capture good images SOOC, post-processing is so important and this class was indispensable to me in learning how to make my images “pop.”
It’s amazing the amount of information you will learn in this class! I felt like I had a good understanding of LR already but I had so much more to learn!! Lynne is a phenomenal teacher! She devotes so much time to this class with the lessons, the videos and the generous feedback. And her “cheerleading” you along the way is so darn encouraging. I”m so glad I took this class!!! I felt reasonably comfortable using LR before starting this course, but felt like there were holes in my knowledge that I was hoping this course would fill in. Well, not only did I get those hole filled in, but I got more hole filled in that I didn’t even know were there. After YEARS of protesting switching from PS, I have now been converted to love LR!
Lynne is an amazing teacher. She keeps the coursework interesting and challenging for people at a large range of knowledge and skill levels, so whether you are new to digital photography and have never used LR, or if you have been shooting for years, and have used LR before, you’ll be challenged to learn new things and to improve your workflow by taking this course!
GREAT class! I was very pleased with how involved Lynne was throughout the entire class. She was diligent about feedback and responding to Q&A! This class is not for the faint of heart…be prepared to put in some time and effort! Lynne provides SO much information…it was worth EVERY penny!
Let me first start by saying. i didnt have a flickr account. I didnt have a back up ;-) Shame on me! (i had a brand new ext. hard drive unused since 2009!) and i didnt know the first thing about editing a photo!! I only used iphoto and my photos were in albums but not organized. I am also new to this photography journey but i have had temper tantrums at the thought of learning how to edit. photoshop frightened me away and i have to say that honestly, a lot of it had to do with self-confidence and my inability to even get comfortable with the idea of learning how to edit a photo. mentally it was so difficult for me to entertain that idea and deep down, i felt i couldnt do it. as an early childhood educator…i was always artsy and creative but when it came to the technical side….i failed miserably. i either wouldnt try or get frustrated and give up. i shot in program mode for 2 years before i even thought about manual mode so you get the idea. i knew that if i wanted to evolve on my journey, i had to learn to edit. i had always heard wonderful things about light room too. i felt for where i was in my journey, this was the place to start. after lynnes course, i can now say ‘editing is fun!!!!’ its even taught me more how to take better photos. i have the bigger ‘picture’ now-a deeper understanding of the basics if you will. i’ve learned more about composition…and other important factors in taking photos. i can say…that this course challenged me in ways that it may not challenge others because i was so much in the dark and technically challenged. i now have my photos organized!! I now (almost done) have my photos backed up!!!!!!!!! yeahy!!!!! I now have a flickr and smugmug account. I feel streamlined!!!!!! of course….having a flickr and smugmug account has not much to do with editing but the bonus of this course for me was getting streamlined and organized-and understanding it all in my head. its been wonderful, refreshing…and exciting. i feel as though i have entered into a new world of knowing. LR + LR = JOY (read lynne rigby + light room = pure joy and inspiration!);-)
i took this course full participation and i would highly recommend it this way if you are anything like me, and if you cant i still highly recommend it. ;-). i can say also that as a hobbyist, i dont even feel the need to learn photoshop right now. light room does it for me and i am SO SO SO grateful that i was able to enroll in this course. I hope this makes a bit of sense. I feel a bit bubbly and inspired right now as our course has ended and I am continuing my journey. I feel positive as i move forward taking and editing pics too! i think i’ve come upon a growth spurt in a positive way. taking this course has really changed the way i feel about photography for me as well. as you know..and can relate…its something so dear to us as moms because after all, we are capturing what our eyes see and our hearts feel through photos. and so…while i learned so much, i am forever deeply touched by what this course has given me.
While this workshop is only 4 weeks long (which seem to pass quickly), the information provided (assignments, videos, etc.) will have you learning even after the course is over! I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in using or already using LR. Lynne truly covers Lightroom from start to finish, from setting up an organized system to achieving correct skin tones, to the output of your images! I am thrilled, knowing that I am organized, achieving correct skin tones in LR, and that my editing time will be drastically reduced! I find Lynne to be a great teacher, I appreciate that she is prompt, sweet, funny and to the point! ♥
Lightroom 101 will blow your mind. The amount of information Lynne covers is phenomenal. Her teaching matches her photography skills – AMAZING! I feel so much more confident about my post processing and organisation skills. Plus l am going to be spending much more time over the newxt few months continuing to go through the wealth of information that Lynne has imparted throught this course. This course will not disappoint you in any way.
I did the study along and loved it. Had no idea about curves, how to use blinkies, or adjust skin tones. now I know :) She has some awesome videos too they helped out so much.
This course was FANTASTIC for me! It is my 3rd “Lynne” course this year! I jumped from one course to the next because Lynne’s teaching style fit me perfectly. She is so patient, supportive, thorough and genuine! Just what I needed to help me along in my photography journey. Don’t hesistate to take “full participation” – the cc and support you receive along the way is invaluable! You will be so very proud of yourself at the end of this course – I know I am! Taking LR101 completely changed the way I thought about editing. Truthfully, I rarely edited any photos beyond cropping before taking Lynne’s class. Not only did I learn how to quickly edit photos to my preference, but my photos are now beautifully organized, categorized, and all happy in their new homes. Lynne is an outstanding teacher, who breaks things down very simply. Her video demonstrations are fantastic and detailed. This is four weeks of awesome, and you should sign up right away!!
