I took Amii’s class with high expectations, after having taken several workshops dedicated to working with seniors. Amii’s class exceeded my expectations. Amii is an open book and wants you to grow in your business but also as an artist. Her posting techniques can be used on any female client and her business practices can translate to any realm of photography. I learned so much and will be able to apply so much knowledge to how I run my business.

Now that the workshop is near the end I thought I would give my review for those not in business but considering the workshop.

First I am not in business. I thought about signing up, and thought, and thought, and thought…. and finally shot Amii an email. I voiced my concerns about perhaps not being “ready” for the workshop in terms of proficiency in shooting/editing as well as not going into business soon. I love business and really just wanted to think about the things in the workshop as I got ready to consider starting a business. So, if you are not in business don’t worry there were plenty of us without a shingle hanging. This is NOT however a workshop on how to create the business (in terms of taxes, contracts, etc…). This course assumes you have a legal business to start OR that you will have one when you implement the material.

Who the course is perhaps NOT good for. If you have an established business, already shoot seniors without issues in posing/editing, have an established workflow, and already do in-person ordering/consulting you may not benefit greatly from the workshop.

However, IF you struggle shooting seniors or wish to break into that market and/or want to move your business into in-person ordering/consulting then Amii is your gal and this is a great workshop. Amii shares HER best practices that have served her well for her business. Don’t worry if you look at her style and decide that’s not for you, I still think there is something in her workflow/edits/business habits that you will find useful and can adapt to fit your own style.

Specifically (and this is JMO) if you want to move to in-person ordering/consulting and you aren’t so sure about shooting seniors and want to stick with your families/children/newborns/etc… still consider the course. If you take the Bre Thurston’s BO on couples/families and use those posing guides instead of the ones Amii provides/uses on her seniors you will still get just as much out of the course as everyone else. Again there were plenty of us that focus on something other than senior girls and still plenty of information to read and absorb!

And IF you are still on the fence shoot Amii an email. That’s what I did and I am so very happy I decided to take the workshop afteall

    Amii is the best!!!

This was the first CM workshop that I took as an active participant, and I truly had no idea what to expect. Amii is an unbelievable teacher AND businesswoman. The girl knows her stuff forwards and backwards!!! The PDF’s alone would have been worth the money, but Amii went above and beyond my expectations with her incredible attention to detail and her overwhelming desire to leave no stone unturned. She answered every single question that participants posted on the forum, and not with just one or two lines either. She went into such great detail that I found myself browsing our private forums until (way too) late in the evening, just trying to soak everything in. The information is incredible, and her style and approach to the business side of things is absolutely invaluable. She willingly shares everything that has (and hasn’t) worked for her business really highlights the pros of in-person consults and order sessions. She exudes a confidence that is contagious!
I have to say, her incredibly in-depth explanations about in person consults were amazing. I already do in person order sessions and hadn’t even *thought* about doing in person consults before the shoot, but now I can’t imagine doing it any other way!
The posing guides were so helpful, and her critique of our homework assignments was the highlight of the workshop for me! I can’t recommend this class enough!

If you are on the fence about this workshop, do yourself a favor and REGISTER. I am not in business yet, but in the planning stages and I found this workshop to be an excellent resource. Amii has done an incredible job – the pdf’s and videos were excellent, but beyond that she made herself available to answer our many questions and help move us forward whenever we were stuck on something. We talked through planning the shoot, posing, editing, marketing and selling and everything in between. I am printing everything out to refer back to later because well…it’s just that good!

Amii is a sharp business woman, an excellent instructor and a truly great person. I was so pleasantly surprised by the amount of information she was willing to share. She was completely open and genuinely interested in seeing each one of succeed. Amii’s workshop exceeded my expectations, for sure, and I am sad to see it end.

This was my first CM Workshop, so I don’t have a basis for comparison, but if they are all as good as this one, all I can say is WOW! Business from Shoot to Sale literally covered everything you might want to know about running a business, including marketing, posing, editing, consultations, product offerings, in person sales … and I know I must be leaving something out! As others have said, the pdf’s and posing guide made this class well worth the price, but Amii’s attentive instruction just put it over the top. I hate that the class is ending … I will miss Amii’s instruction and the camaraderie of the other class members!

If you want to get into the senior market, seriously consider this class. Before the class, I was so scattered; lots of ideas but I was really unsure how I should start. Amii has set me on a path that has helped me solidify my business plan. She gave me concrete ideas to help me beef up my social media, showed me how to set the stage with a pre-consultation, created an example packed posing guide with key tips to keep in mind and critiqued my images (extremely helpful), streamlined my post processing workflow, and concluded the workshop with rock solid selling strategies. Amii is an EXCELLENT instructor. She thoughtfully answered every question that was asked of her and threw in tons of extras that weren’t mentioned in the class syllabus. I have taken other workshops and breakout sessions. This one tops them all and should be considered by everyone getting into the senior market!
