A Story of Love and Joy: Capturing Connections in Lifestyle Newborn Photography

with Lisa Tichané and Kelly Garvey | Available for Immediate Download

BREAKOUT DESCRIPTION

Lifestyle photographers Kelly Garvey and Lisa Tichane share a passion for photographing babies in an authentic, natural way. They strongly believe in telling the story of a growing family, instead of focusing on the infant alone. They have teamed up to share years of experience and learning, to teach you everything they know about shooting lifestyle sessions, and to bring together photographic perspectives from separate sides of the world. They will guide you through their lifestyle philosophies, workflows, and strategies — from preparing for a newborn session to capturing connections to editing to business matters. Along the way, they’ll compare and contrast their approaches in order to help the readers find their very own lifestyle path.

This breakout session is jam-packed with hands-on tips and advice, including several troubleshooting case studies teaching you how to make the best out of your session even in challenging circumstances, business advice on how to get started with lifestyle sessions (or switch to lifestyle if you were already a newborn photographer), video examples of real-life newborn family sessions on location, and watch-me-edit videos.

Whether you are a hobbyist, an aspiring pro, or a seasoned pro wanting to embrace lifestyle in newborn sessions, this breakout will guide you through everything you need to know to document this special time of life in the most natural way and to look at newborn photography with fresh, new eyes.

Oh my goodness! I have never seen so much depth in a breakout session! This content could easily be a 4 week class. Lisa and Kelly really outdid themselves! This was written for me. I start to feel so nervous as I’m packing my car full to the brim and barely fitting my beanbag through their door. Newborn photography is simply not my strength and this breakout has given me a whole new outlook on this genre. Family photography is my love and this breakout teaches you to shoot what you love. I can actually see myself loving a newborn session! I’m so thankful they have put this information all together to teach the world their brilliance! I can not wait to begin rebuilding my newborn work portfolio. There is well over 200+ pages of PDF filled with beautiful images and priceless information. They have left nothing out! Also some great editing videos! If you have any interest in ditching the beanbag this breakout is for you! They give you step by step tips on how to rebuild your portfolio and market yourself as a lifestyle newborn photographer. Thank you, Lisa and Kelly!!

This breakout is fantastic. It’s so clear from the very beginning that there was a ton of hard work and long hours put into it. The content is not only well thought out but specific and BEAUTIFUL. I loved the detailed step by steps and the video of Kelly shooting is outstanding! It’s so nice to confirm the things I’ve been doing as well as to get some new ideas and tricks!
I read through the breakout right before a newborn session last week. It was absolutely one of my best sessions to date thanks to the ideas from the break out and the confidence it gave me. Then, when I re-read it again before my newborn session a few days later, I felt even better about the direction I was going and revised my website! My next step is to take a hard look at my pricing and make revisions there as well thanks to the detailed examples Kelly & Lisa provide!
What I loved the most was that Lisa & Kelly have two different approaches to their business and how they do things so you’re really get two pros for the price of one! It’s so nice to see what one does, the alternatives, and that they both work!!

I wanted to share with you what this breakout has done for me: giving me permission to handle newborn sessions my way. No props to worry about, just a family showing love & joy over their new baby.

I love, love newborn photography, but I have not advertised that I do. I am afraid that people don’t like my style. I don’t want to bring a gazillion props to a newborn session. I want to share their connection with each other and the new baby. The breakout has taught me that it is okay to photograph without props. My style is just different, and not wrong.

Lisa & Kelly – thank you from the bottom of my heart for this breakout. You two are not only amazing photographers, but also very generous about sharing your knowledge with all of us. This breakout has meant so much to me that I am actually taking a leap of faith and advertising newborn sessions – lifestyle.

  • Michelle says:

What I love most about photography is the ability to freeze time and capture the emotion of the moment to cherish for years to come; it’s an incredible super power ;)
I have never been comfortable with the idea of posed/studio newborn sessions but I really wanted to capture the memories of that epic time in a family’s history. This breakout provides so much info about how to document that emotion and the details, and how to market yourself and your work. This breakout gave me the confidence and push I needed to add newborn lifestyle sessions to my repertoire and I am eternally grateful. The instructor are incredibly talented, resourceful and supportive.
Another fabulous breakout session by Clickinmoms!!

This breakout is generous in every way. The materials are meaty, comprehensive and jam packed full of inspiration for photographers of varying levels. This has clearly been a labour of love for Kelly and Lisa. They have laid themselves bare, sharing their personal journeys and the reasons why they have embraced this style of photography; and those stories are inspiring and reassuring. The authors have even gone so far as to include their pricing philosophies, tips and secrets for preparing for a successful shoot. I am only beginning on my photography journey, but even as a relative beginner I found the contents of this breakout hugely useful and I am certain it’s one I will return to for help and inspiration for many years to come. Thank you Lisa and Kelly!!

WOW. I just cant even. This breakout has become one of my favorites. It is everything I needed. These women put their all into this breakout and it shows. I felt so connected and learned so much from both of them. I loooooved how they both shoot lifestyle, but they both do it differently. That was a great way to see how different things work for different people. Hearing their stories and how that made the jump from doing what they thought they had to do to doing only what they wanted to do gave me the power and encouragement to do the same. This part alone was worth the money for me. But once you add on all the things they tell you going through a session and the videos this breakout is by far worth more than the $50. I could not recommend this breakout more. Inspiring, encouraging, and just everything I absolutely needed to hear. Thank you so very much.

  • Beautiful work in this breakout! I nearly cried when I read through the first PDF, as each of the ladies were discussing how they got into their lifestyle approach after trying other things. It was like they were inside my head! The PDFs are packed with great information, and gorgeous inspirational photos. The videos of actual lifestyle newborn sessions are invaluable. Watching another photographer work and handle challenges with such finesse and confidence is such a help!

I have not seen much of Kelly’s work until this week, but I am a huge fan, and my admiration of Lisa just keeps growing. It is clear that they put a great deal of time and effort and most of all, LOVE, into this breakout. If you are interested in exploring lifestyle photography of newborns and their families, you cannot go wrong with this purchase.

These ladies have poured their hearts and souls into this breakout, and it is so obvious. I was giddy when I opened the folder and found so many pdfs full of information and gorgeous inspiration! And as if it is not enough to see their work, you get to see 3 additional artist’s work for these sessions. This is an area that I really want to explore, and now I feel like I have the instruction manual. I love that you get to see their different perspectives on every part of newborn lifestyle photography, how they handle difficult situations, tips for different ages/siblings, pricing, etc. I especially loved the video on-location at a client’s home and getting to see how she would use the space and light. It’s one thing to read it but seeing it really solidifies the information. Well done ladies, this is amazing!

I have had the pleasure of being in a couple of workshops with Lisa as TA and instructor, and I have to say, it was fabulous to hear her voice, beautiful French accent and all!

This breakout is nothing short of amazing!

Lisa and Kelly walk you through every step of a lifestyle session. They talk about what to do in undesirable conditions, they discuss focusing on the whole family and not just the newborn. They both have different business plans and they outline them in detail so you are able to look at both and decide what works best for YOU and your business. They have packed a ton of information into the PDFs and their inspiration guides are fantastic. There is also an editing video which is so helpful. They also discuss older newborns (babies up to 6 months and not sitting). This information is invaluable at this time as I have a 3 month old session on Saturday and rather than dreading it like I had been, I’m now excited for it and I feel confident I can work with whatever I’m presented. Lisa and Kelly have provided me with newfound confidence and an excitement for lifestyle newborn sessions.

If you haven’t done so already, purchase this breakout now. You won’t regret it!

  • What a fabulous breakout!! I just love how both Lisa and Kelly capture emotion and connection in their work. In this HUGE breakout, they go through everything from how they each got started, to why, to their planning techniques and how to nail a session. I switched to lifestyle newborns about a year ago and have been learning as I go. This breakout covers everything I’ve been teaching myself through trial and error, plus much, much, much more. I will be reading and re-reading this because there are so many ideas, tips, tricks and ideas shared. The gears in my head are already turning from the ideas here. I’d like to thank both Lisa and Kelly for sharing so openly, honestly and thoroughly. I would highly recommend this breakout to anyone new to lifestyle newborn work, or anyone thinking of switching to lifestyle. Not only is it a great read, but there’s so much inspiration here!

  • Kelly is not only one of my sweetest friends, she is also one of my favorite photographers. I love her and her work so much I had to have her photograph my newborn. Her images are authentic and she really knows how to capture family connections and joy. I know she poured her heart into this break out and it shows! These two ladies share their hearts and experiences and you walk away with a wealth of information on photographing newborns in clients homes. I loved how this break out included case studies that address some of the difficulties they have had while shooting lifestyle sessions on location. My favorite part, and the part that helped me the most, was watching Kelly walk through her clients home and pointing out how she finds different pockets of light and how she shoots in each of these spots. It was so valuable seeing her in action and seeing how she interacts with her clients to get them to connect. I also enjoyed watching the editing videos. It’s always interesting and helpful for me to see other photographers workflow and editing steps.

Thank you ladies for all your hard work!

If you love photographing newborns or want to learn more about a lifestyle session, I highly recommend this break out!
