Apply to CMpro
CMpro membership is by application only. A review board evaluates all applications and collectively decides whether to admit photographers to CMpro.
Pre-Application. Before applying to CMpro, please download and read the PreApplication package. This 22 page document offers detail around the entire application process, from how to prepare and select images as well as the detailed criteria the review panel is looking at.
Eligibility. We firmly believe that the mark of professionalism is defined not by a business license but by mastery of the craft. With that in mind, admission to CMpro is based strictly on a portfolio evaluation, and both professional photographers and those pursuing their artistic passion independently are invited to apply.
Portfolio. All applicants are required to submit a portfolio of 150 images, uploaded at the time of application. This portfolio will be evaluated anonymously by the review panel.
Evaluation. The evaluation rubric is broken into seven categories with six levels in each category. A full breakdown of the rubric can be found in the pre-application package.
The rubric categories are:
- The Exposure Triangle
- Color and White Balance
- Use of Light
- Composition and Posing
- Processing Cohesion and Polish
- Technical (focus, DOF, etc)
- Creativity, Expression and Intention
The levels per category are:
- Beginning – 1
- Emerging – 2
- Developing – 3
- Capable – 4
- Experienced – 5
- Exceptional – 6
In order to be admitted to CMpro, applicants must meet two requirements:
- A minimum score of 4 points in the Exposure Triangle category and
- An overall score of 32 points, or higher, out of a possible 42 points.
Results. Applicant will receive notification of acceptance or denial via email within 2 weeks. The results will include the average score in each category as well as the total score received. Individualized feedback on specific images will not be provided, however the results will indicate the level of the portfolio as a whole. We hope you will use the rubric information to continue building on your foundation of skills and develop further in your image making, regardless of score. Applicants may apply only once every 90 days.
Application Fee. Application fees are $50 per submission and are not refundable.
Membership Fees. Membership fees are $100 per year ($50/year for CM lifetime members). This includes membership to our regular CM forums, so current members can cancel their general subscription.
