I am a photographer and I create photographs. My goal with each and every session — and really, with each and every click of my shutter — is to create the kinds of images that make your heart pitter-patter and pull you into the emotion of a moment. I want you to feel the sun and smell the fresh cut grass and hear the giggles of a little girl twirling with her dad. And the biggest compliment to my work is to have that girl’s mother hang that photograph on her wall and display it proudly for the world to see, experiencing all of those sensations every time she walks past in her own home.
As a creator of photographs, it can be frustrating at times to know that my clients often “just want the digitals.” You see, I have never considered myself to be a creator of digital files and it pains me to think that these photographs that have so much of my heart in them could be confined to a computer screen or a social media account or if printed, done so by a pharmacy lab that doesn’t calibrate their printers with the care and accuracy of my professional lab. But then again, as a consumer I get it! When I hire a photographer to capture me and my family, I too want the digitals so that I can share our images far and wide as well as display them in my home. As much as I want to hold onto the importance of prints on paper (and preferably paper that is backed with mat board and topped with a gorgeous lustre coating!), the times in which we live demand that digital files be an option.
So as a professional photographer trying to stay true to myself while still meeting the needs of my clients, I have never offered “just the digitals” but rather have always offered only the “digitals AND…” And yet I have never found a way to do this that matches the quality of the brand I have created and my desire to have a cohesive package that is personalized for each client.
Until now.
As soon as I held the new Miller’s Print Box + USB in my hands I knew that this was what I had been searching for. The ordering process was easy and intuitive as I could easily download fully customizable Photoshop templates for both the box and USB. The product was shipped to me overnight (a standard service from the geniuses at Miller’s!) and was packaged securely as to avoid any damage en route. The box itself is beautiful and substantial and I was particularly impressed with how well the ink took to the wood; I wouldn’t hesitate for a second to print an image on the box lid for future clients. Inside the box are two compartments outfitted with tissue paper and twine in which to wrap prints (up to 150 unmounted prints) and natural grass upon which the USB drive can lay. Miller’s has provided everything I need to present this to a client in a way that is beautiful and memorable.
The USB drive alone is easily the highest quality I have ever encountered. The wood is a perfect match to the wood of the box and the construction is impeccable. Even better, the cap and body of the drive connect with magnets ensuring that they do not come undone in transit and adding a nice “click” for when they come together. For me, a branded USB is the absolute best way to deliver digital files so that I can provide not only the image files, but also a PDF explaining the importance of choosing a reputable printer (I always recommend the consumer side of Miller’s lab, Mpix) and requesting that they don’t crop or add filters on social media. It is one extra way to protect my work while providing my clients with exactly what they want.
The Miller’s Print Box + USB is the best way to stay true to my heart as an artist and provide the best products to the people who trust me to capture their families. I will happily be offering these to all of my clients as a standard offering with each and every session, knowing that the quality of what I am giving them will make them fall in love with their images even more and will leave an impression upon them that will have them coming back to me for years to come.
