Dear Santa,

We’ve been good girls and boys. You know how much we love lenses, so will you drop one or two in our stockings?

Here are eight of the newest, hottest lenses topping our lists this year.

Canon EF 16-35mm 2.8L III USM lens

Canon EF 16-35mm 2.8L III USM

“The Canon 16-35L is an amazingly versatile lens that I’m glad I decided to add to my bag this year. Even though I’m mostly a prime girl, this zoom fits my style of shooting perfectly. This lens is my obvious choice when photographing a landscape or the dark thunderstorms I love so much but it also works fabulously with children. My kids love it when I have it set to 16mm and they get as close to the lens as possible and make silly faces. Yes there’s some distortion but that’s what they love about it. And as a wedding photographer, the 16-35 pretty much lives on my camera during receptions. Not only can I easily capture the entire reception scene in one shot but I can weave in and out of the dance floor for some great close-up candids.”

Lensbaby Twist 60

“The Lensbaby Twist 60 is a gem of a lens that fits my vintage-inspired view of the world. The lens is solid and feels good in the hand when focusing, which is really important to me. The all-metal construction has a good heft, which helps to stabilize when manually focusing, but still is compact and easy to work with.  My first impression was sheer surprise at how razor sharp it was. The clarity of my subjects and the three dimensional nature of the way the subject is rendered is remarkable. The blur has a radial nature that makes the subject pop from the frame in a very attractive way. The lens is also incredible with the macro converters, which make it a super sharp and unique macro lens. The focal length is long enough to make attractive portraits, but also wide enough to be used as a normal lens. Overall, it is one of my most used lenses, and one that I recommend as a great first Lensbaby lens. I would be lost without it! ”

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 105mm 1.4E lens

Nikon AF-S FX Nikkor 105mm f/1.4 ED

“The new Nikon 105 f/1.4 is a beauty. I had a feeling I was going to fall in love with it even before I tried it out and I was right! Who can resist a shallow depth of field at a 105mm focal length? I found the focus to be tack sharp when I played with it for a few weeks, and it was quick to grab focus even in tough situations like backlighting. The bokeh is beautiful and creamy. I didn’t know how much I’d love the focal length for shooting outdoors. It just felt perfect for my shooting style – I could maintain a comfortable distance from my subjects so they could explore and do their thing without feeling like I was interfering, and I wasn’t so far away that I felt completely removed from my family. It’s now planted firmly on the top of my lens wish list!”

Sigma 85mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art

“I just recently purchased the Sigma 85 Art and immediately fell in love. I have always been a huge fan of the contrast and bokeh that Sigma lenses bring to the table, and the newest Art lens does not disappoint! This lens is my go-to for a less intrusive photo session, by that I mean that I don’t have to have my lens directly in a client’s face. Even wide open this lens is fast and sharp, something that I thought that my last 85mm lacked. With this lens, not only can I get that creamy bokeh with every shot, but I am also able to escape the notice of my 2 year old and am able to capture a more candid shot which is always a plus for me!”
