It’s easy to get preoccupied with what everyone else is shooting and how. What we have to do, as cliche as it sounds, is stay true to ourselves. Once you have the basics down, you have to shoot what you love and in your own way. Just because one photographer sees a subject in a certain way doesn’t mean that you have to see that same subject in the exact same way as there are many, many correct ways to photograph a subject. To express that point, here is another installment of our photographer shoot-outs with CMpros Krista Campbell and Rachel Nielsen!

For this session, Krista and Rachel had a vision for a modern, yet romantic rooftop wedding shoot and began their planning with a Pinterest board. After choosing the color yellow and lemons, they designed the table details and chose the style of the dress and flowers around those elements to reflect the modern feel. They contacted and worked with a local bridal shop, Danielle’s Bridal, and salon, Kings Road Salon, to help bring the concept to life. Using the gorgeous Salt Lake City skyline as a backdrop, they shot on top of a parking garage for an urban feel. The buttery backlight added to the magic of the setting. The hair and makeup artists chose a sleek, modern look for Sherece’s hair and gave her a modern pop of red on her lips to complete the look.
