Is one of your New Year’s resolutions to get better organized? One thing you can check off your to-do list is your blogging and tweeting. Get those posts together ahead of time when it’s convenient and then schedule them to post when it makes the most sense. CMmentor Courtney Keim is here to show you how!
Get Organized | Stay Ahead of Your Blog Posts and Tweets
If you are anything like me, that little alarm on your phone constantly sounds and reminds me of my upcoming appointments each day. I am horrible with remembering things. I’m unsure if I can legitimately blame “baby brain” or say it’s my kids fault. But, I can say, I need to keep organized. While I would love to remember each day, to create a post or a tweet, I often find life gets in the way, it slips my mind, and at 4 am, I wake up and remember I forgot. So over this past summer, I decided I was going to plot out my posts (both on my personal and business blogs). I also remembered that you can schedule your tweets – if you use Twitter (which I admit I should but forget too often).
Schedule Your Blog Posts
So, if you are looking into scheduling your posts, it’s actually super easy. Not only can you choose the actual date of your posts but even the time. You should already be familiar with your website stats enough that you know when most traffic goes to your blog. Ideally, that is when you should be posting your newest content, right? But if you are like me, that could happen at a time when I have a conflict – a doctor’s appointment or even a session.
Let’s start with your blog.
To schedule a post, log into your wordpress dashboard to add a new post.
Once you’ve chosen the option to add a new blog post, create your blog post as you normally would. On the right, there should be the button where you “publish” your post. Rather than choose to publish your post, look right above it for the “Publish Immediately” option.
This should bring up an area where you can change the date you wish it to be published.
You can either schedule it in the future or even date it for the past! If you decide to change the time of publication, remember it’s a 24 hour time clock. So if you want it for 7 PM, it’s 19:00. Make sure you click the OK button and then you will notice that the “Publish” button changes into a “Schedule” button.
Click “Schedule” and you are good to go!
Schedule Your Tweets
Meet HootSuite.
Just complete your message, schedule a date and time and voila, you have a scheduled tweet!
These are just two of the many ways you can keep yourself organized and ahead of the game! Hope they helped!
Thanks so much for helping us to get organized for 2012, Courtney!

Courtney may not have been raised in a home with a camera but she has always loved photography and in her own words, “Once I got my first camera, my journey began. From living in England and capturing Alice’s Shop in Oxford to visiting the castles of Ireland, my focus shifted from places to people. Now I can’t imagine not capturing my every day experiences.” She captures her every day with a Canon 5d mark ii and varying lenses in a classic yet modern style. Residing in Atlantic City with her surfer husband, princess-clad daughter, and firetruck chasing twin boys, Courtney is a “self-proclaimed science geek” spending her days as a Chemistry and Physics teacher and her off time as a photographer. Her iPhone, morning black coffees, the smiles of her little kids, running the boardwalk, TOMs shoes, Anthropologie, and a fully loaded Kindle are many of the little things she loves.

I can’t wait to get a minute to sit down ALONE and re-read this. You are the BEST for sharing all your knowledge.
