a peek inside | sara seeton

Get to know your CMteam!  We are so often asked what we shoot with, what’s “in our bag”, what bag we carry and so on and so forth.  So we’re giving you all a little peek behind the scenes to get to know your CMteam better.  A couple of times a month throughout this year and into 2013 we’ll feature a different CMteam member and give you “a peek inside” – a peek inside their bag, their workspace and a peek into their personality with five little things you may not know about them – so FUN!

This week we have the amazing Sara Seeton!  A longtime CMmember, Sara has been inspiring us with her beautiful work for ages and we were so thrilled when she joined our team as a mentor.  It also meant we got another Canadian on the team – about time haha!!  Sara’s kind, helpful nature and willingness to share make her a popular resource on CM and we’re happy to share more about our friend, Sara Seeton, with you today!

1. Canon 85 1.2L - My lens of choice!  Perfect for the outdoors, which comes in handy since I can shoot sessions outside all year round in Texas.  Not much beats the creamy, dreamy bokeh that this lens is well known for.

  2. Canon 35 1.4L - My go-to lens for indoors and lifestyle.  Perfect for tight spaces.  I added this tack-sharp lens to my camera bag in September and it has quickly become one of my favorites!  I use it quite a bit at home when taking pictures of my own kids.

 3. Canon 5D Mark II - I upgraded to the mark ii almost one year ago (from the Canon 40D) and it was one of the best business purchases I’ve made.

 4. Canon 50 1.4 - A great versatile lens.  It’s very lightweight and perfect for chasing around toddlers.

 5. Battery Charger

 6. Extra Camera Strap

7SanDisk 8GB Extreme Compact Flash Memory Cards - I always have a few of these in my bag.

 8. Battery Pack

 9. Pro Optic Pro 72mm Circular Polarizer Digital Filter – For my 35 1.4L when I want to keep my blue skies blue!

10. Extra Battery Pack - Always keep an extra one fully charged in my camera bag, just in case!

11. Lens Cleaning Kit

12. Business Cards – Always have a handful of these in my bag.

13. Baby Wipes – Much easier to wipe those snotty noses than to spend the time editing them out!

14. Bribe Snacks – Yes, I’ve been known to bribe!

15. Noisy Toy – Perfect for getting eye contact from little ones.

Not exactly my dream office, but it works!

What I love about it:

- Lots of filing space to keep both personal and business paperwork.

- Enough workspace for both computers (iMac and macbook pro).

- I’m able to keep all my packaging supplies stored on the shelves and have plenty of room to work with while packaging orders.

What I don’t love about it:

- It’s located near the front entry of the house and I feel so far away from my family when I’m in there, so sometimes I move my computer and set up my workspace on the dining room table!

- The furniture is not exactly my ‘style’ anymore and I’d love to have some new pretty white furniture, however, for the time being, it is functional and gets the job done.

Sara may be Canadian but she lives the Texas life with her husband and two daughters.  A long time lover of photography, it wasn’t until her children were born that she realized it was her passion.  She describes her photography as “fresh, modern, fun + simple” and says, “my photography style totally reflects who i am as a person.  I tried for so long to find my photography style, but when I finally realized that I just needed to be ME that is when everything fell into place and just ‘clicked’.”  Having a design background she also loves to spend her time working with branding and logos but also enjoys chillin’ on the couch, eating junk food, catching up with her DVR, her iphone, cinnamon dolce lattes, and vanilla coke.
