office space of photographer Amy Lucy Lockheart

1.       A place for my dozens of photography books

2.       Dell Ultrasharp 24-inch monitor

3.       A place for all my packaging supplies

This modest office space may leave much to be desired, but it has worked for me for the last couple years. We actually have an empty room waiting for me to set up my office, but I chose to put my computer at a built-in hall desk because it is right outside the kids’ bedroom doors. When they were younger, I could put them down for their naps and be right there with them. I have always preferred to be near my children whenever possible, so the hall desk has worked well. It’s just enough room for my computer, files, packaging supplies, and all my photography books.

Residing in Minnesota with her husband and four children, Amy has always had an appreciation for photography but it was her children who inspired her to pick up a camera. Shooting with a Nikon D4 and a variety of lenses, her first priority is capturing the fleeting moments of childhood. 14. Thanks for sharing, Amy! I also have 5 year old “twins” that were born early (8 weeks) due to twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. We lost one of our sons (donor) to it, but then our other son (recipient) and fraternal daughter survived, so we just refer to them as twins – it’s easier than having to explain it all. And we share a name! Pretty cool:)

  15. Katrina Stewart

Loving get to peek inside your bag (I'm jealous!). Thanks for letting us see and sharing some of your secrets.

  16. Love seeing your gear! Can you tell me how you manage with shooting primes with kids? I'm developing my "pro" gear (just upgraded to FF) and trying to prioritize lenses. I'm typically a prime shooter, but did rent a 24-70mm zoom for a toddler shoot recently and found it really helpful. I guess I'm asking how do you change lenses on the go? Or do you pick and just keep zooming with your feet?! 🙂

  27. Howdy, I believe your website might be having web browser compatibility problems. When I look at your website in Safari, it looks fine however, if opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping issues. I merely wanted to give you a quick heads up! Besides that, wonderful site!
