A Day In The Life with Kat Stewart

So unless l am being super lazy, l start the day with a quick shower after which l kiss goodbye to any personal time/space until about 7.30pm.

My son is our alarm clock. Thankfully he is a champion sleeper and we are not usually up before 8am (please don’t hate me, if it helps, l seem to need about 9 hours sleep to function like a normal human being). We usually have some playtime and cuddles on his bed, then it’s nappy changed, clothes on, teeth brushed and downstairs for breakfast.

Arran asks for the same thing every day: weetabix and banana.

I always have a cup of caffeine free tea (because I’m hardcore like that), some toast and fruit.

Next it’s time to say bye-bye to daddy. He works just round the corner which is great as no commute means more family time.

My little assistant helps me with some chores:

and then creates some more chores for me:

We read every single day. His current favourite is Tabby McTat. We have read it so much that he can recite the full book:

There is always a game of football at some point in the day (I managed to get out of the way before he blasted this at my camera):

and sometimes even some dancing:

Most days my hubby can nip home for lunch and today he has some extra time so after lunch we head outside for some bike riding lessons:

Two times a week, Arran has playgroup for a couple of hours so whilst he plays with friends, I technically get a chance to catch up on food shopping and housework.

Instead, I invariably head out with my camera or read up more about both the technical and creative side of photography. At the moment, I am doing Elle Walker‘s Fine Art and Visual Communication workshop which is keeping me very busy:

Then before I know it, it’s evening, Arran is home, I have dinner to prepare and a bath to run:

A few times a month, the sky puts on a wonderful display: bright orange and red sunset or, like today, a gorgeous purple descent into dusk. Although I live in the middle of the city, I try and snap some pictures out of my window:

Then it’s bedtime for Arran and some downtime for me and the hubs. Often I will catch up with Clickin Mom friends, do some more online learning and/or continue to practice my photography. This means embracing low light conditions or, if I am lucky, grabbing my camera for rare photography opportunities like this:

I usually hit the sack about 11pm and I am invariably always thankful for the opportunities I have had and the people that are in my life.
