A Day In The Life with Corinne McCombs
It seems like every day is different around here. Kid schedules and work days are constantly flip flopping, making life unpredictable. Most days are busy, that seems to be the only constant. I wish I had something more exciting to document, but I’m just going to keep it real!
Alarm goes off at 6:45am, but it never fails, I snooze until 7:15.
Rub my eyes for a few seconds before realizing I didn’t take yesterday’s mascara off, and stumble off to get the kids up!
Ah yes. It’s going to be one of those days… I feel your pain buddy.
Before you shake your head at me and start feeling bad about yourself, I am NOT Pinterest Mom. These are blueberry muffins in a package. I literally added water. Promise.
I don’t know about you, but this is considered completely acceptable attire for school drop-off. Not showing my mug because I still have raccoon eyes from rubbing yesterday’s mascara all over my face.
8:10am – I’m definitely dropping her off in the car line. 1) Brody has no pants on, 2) I still look like a raccoon.
Co-pilot by my side! This is when I debate driving 10 minutes to the Starbucks drive-thru, but usually end up going home instead.
If you need us, we’ll be doing this for the next 2 hours or so. Brody is either playing Cooking Mama on the DS, or one of the bazillion games on the iPad. I’m either working, or pretending to work. Most likely I’m on Clickin Moms.
10:30am – breakfast on the go! Ruined my favorite blanket for newborns last week by driving home with it hanging out the back of my car, so it’s time for a trip to one of my favorite stores! In other news, I finally washed my face.
Just my luck, the blanket I want is out of stock. Don’t worry, I always manage to find some other random things I don’t need. Seriously, what did I just buy? Is that an egg slicer?
Brody was less than impressed with IKEA, but I totally redeemed myself with this $1 frozen yogurt.
12:30pm – Lunch time! Oh, wait, never mind. We’re doing this first. I’m not even really sure what’s happening here, but it appears both legs are in one hole of his boxers, but I’m not allowed to help… so…..
12:32pm – Glad we’re past that.
I said I was going to keep it real, but I had to make lunch look prettier than usual. Also, I used my new fancy egg slicer, and it’s everything I always dreamed it would be.
After lunch, I usually put an episode of Ninja Turtles on for Brody and cuddle on the couch. Nap time is a thing of the past in our house, so it was quite the shocker to wake up at 2:45pm and realize we had 5 minutes to get Cali from school! More often than not, Brody is pantsless, pick-up line it is…
I have a slight obsession with Dr Pepper, and I hate to admit that this is part of my daily routine.
Once we’re home from school, Cali usually does homework, but today is FRIDAY!! No homework! I’ve been trying to keep up with “Friday Selfies” with the kids. My husband is in school Friday nights, and we get a little stir-crazy at home. If nothing else, it’s entertaining! These are just ridiculous with the posing, photo-bombing dog, and crazy light coming in through the blinds. I sorta love them.
5:00pm- Time for a healthy snack. Made with real fruit, right?! Don’t ever buy 10lbs of Belly Flops at the Jelly Belly Factory. It’s just a bad idea.
Killin’ time. Writin’ a birthday list. Kickin’ butt. Catnappin’ on a chair. We don’t have a lot of structure…
Typical.
Right before the kids are about to tear each others faces off, I decide to venture out to my other favorite store… on today’s list… a new space heater for newborn sessions.
Once again, not my day for shopping. Apparently space heaters are seasonal. Couldn’t find what I came for, so I bought Beef Jerky and Pistachio Gelato instead.
8:00pm – School night for Dad = lazy night for Mom. Target dinner. Oh the options are endless….
Back home, teeth are brushed, a story is read, and it’s off to sleep for these two.
Once the kids are in bed, I end up back on Clickin Moms posting a Daily Project image, catching up on the forums, Facebook, editing, etc.
10:00pm – Kids are asleep, hubby is home, on the couch, beer in hand. All is right in my world! This is where I grab a handful of almond M&Ms, collapse on the couch, and catch up on The Walking Dead and Pawn Stars! Thanks for spending the day with me!
Thanks for sharing your day, I loved the beauty found in the honest, everyday nature of your day. I still want to do something like this myself, just got to make it happen.
Hubby and I love Pawn Stars too 🙂 so additive! Thanks for sharing your day, I keep meaning to do one, I’m so inspired by all of yours!
OMGosh that was too fun! I love your sense of humor.
I seriously love these “day in the life posts”! Always makes me feel normal and like I’m not alone in this crazy balancing act called motherhood! Love all of our CMPros for giving a real sneak peek inside =)
The fact that you stop for Dr. Pepper makes me love you even more. Dr. Pepper is my weakness. I’ve been trying to kick the habit for years. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your day with us! And I’m glad to see my son isn’t the only one who tends to want to run around pantsless
Gelato and beef jerky from Target! BAHAHHA We are sisters from another mother (doesn’t work as well as “brothers” does it?). Loved this. Although I think I talked to you like 15 times that day so it was nice to finally have a visual of it. Your selfies with the kids are SOO cute!
The beef jerky was delicious, but I just threw the gelato away a few days ago. It tasted like playdough 🙁
Love this, Corinne! You’ve inspired me to upgrade my yoga pants.
Omg … I love you. I just bought that egg slicer and feel super fancy too 🙂 I love Brody on the floor lol and the late night iPad and always love to see your Fridays with the kiddos 🙂 super stoked you’re featured here!

I love your honesty-and sense of humor! Thanks so much for sharing what a normal day looks like for most of us non-Pinterest-ers.
Love it! Keepin’ it real is always the best to observe. Your posts always bring a smile to my face on the forum… and this post was no exception. 🙂
You. Are. Awesome. 😀 I am so jealous as i miss IKEA!!!
Love this! We don’t have a lot of structure either, so your day was right up my alley! 😉 Gotta love trips to Target when it’s dark outside. I feel ya on those days!
LOL @ Pinterest Mom. I use the “add water” packet too.
And did you buy the egg slicer because you knew you were going to take photos of your salad? I so need to get myself to the Ikea and stock up on some new, cool….stuff! 🙂
